Judge tells Palin to stop 'disparaging' State Trooper over personal issues

In Newsweek, Troopergate gets more interesting. We all know that Sarah Palin fired and rehired a librarian who wouldn't ban books. But, I don't think we now just how bad her attack was on Alaska State Trooper Michael Wooten, and what the fallout was. Wooten was going through 'a bitter separation and divorce from Palin's sister Molly' - and Palin was trying to ruin his career over it.

Court records obtained by NEWSWEEK show that during the course of divorce hearings three years ago, Judge John Suddock heard testimony from an official of the Alaska State Troopers' union about how Sarah Palin—then a private citizen—and members of her family, including her father and daughter, lodged up to a dozen complaints against Wooten with the state police. The union official told the judge that he had never before been asked to appear as a divorce-case witness, that the union believed family complaints against Wooten were "not job-related," and that Wooten was being "harassed" by Palin and other family members.

Two wildly different polls from SUSA and PPP

Just what does the race look like here in North Carolina? Well, Survey USA and Public Policy Polling offer two wildly different assessments.

SUSA, in cooperation with ABC11 in the Triangle, has McCain up to an improbable 20-point lead over Obama. I say "improbable" because in looking at the internals, this poll makes absolutely no sense. PPP sounds a bit more realistic even if you allow for the fact it's a partisan Dem poll--McCain up four.

Foxx Fire

As the editorial section of the post stated, “Few would have predicted in the awful days after Sept. 11, 2001, that just seven years later, members of Congress would actually be considering legislation to make the nation’s capital harder to protect.”

McCain's 'Truth Squad' to counter attacks on Palin includes Foxx, Myrick

Sometimes you just can't make this stuff up...this bit of Truthiness landed in my inbox from the folks with only a casual relationship to the truth, the RNC and the McCain/Palin camp. Note the lack of prominent Republican women (or men for that matter) on this list (where's Kay Bailey Hutchison?) ; this was the best they could scrape up. I'm not surprised that GOP tool Virginia Foxx, is on the list, and as far as fact-checking goes, Sue Myrick’s from NC, not FL.

MCCAIN-PALIN 2008 LAUNCHES TRUTH SQUAD TO COUNTER ATTACKS ON GOVERNOR SARAH PALIN

ARLINGTON, VA -- With today's Wall Street Journal report that pro-Obama Democrats have "airdropped a mini-army of 30 lawyers, investigators and opposition researchers into Anchorage" to dig for dirt on our vice presidential nominee, the McCain-Palin campaign today launched the Palin Truth Squad to counter recent attacks on Governor Sarah Palin, her family, her friends and her record of accomplishment. The Palin Truth Squad will set the record straight against Internet and liberal smears of Governor Palin.

"We're proud of Governor Palin's leadership in Alaska and record of taking on entrenched special interests and the good old boys network," said former Governor Jane Swift. "Governor Palin's commitment to reform is well-known but there are those who would seek to distort that record with vile rumors and smears against her, her husband, her children and her friends. We will not allow those on the left and in the media to smear a woman who has always served her constituents with honor. We know the truth and are committed to ensuring it as well."

In the event of false attacks, rumors and smears against Governor Palin, the Palin Truth Squad will issue alerts and statements to voters and the media to set the record straight. Additionally, the Truth Squad will be available to respond to inquiries from the media.

Lying Liddy Dole compares Kay Hagan to a dog

It's shocking when one woman refers to another as a dog, no matter how subtle the reference. It isn't surprising to see Elizabeth Dole lying to save her sorry hide, but it is shocking to see her comparing Kay Hagan to a dog.

In the ad the narrator claims, "That dog won't hunt." Unfortunately for Liddy, the ad firm used a breed of dog that is actually quite good at hunting. As a matter of fact their known for hunting foxes and...um...rats.
