Dancing at the intersection of church and state:
State Representative Larry Pittman blasted Planned Parenthood as “a murderous organization … getting wealthy on murder for hire” in an email reply to a Planned Parenthood letter urging N.C. legislators not to cut funding to the organization.
Aside from being hyper-hyperbole, these accusations are borderline libelous. If the roles were reversed, I'm sure this idiot would have already contacted his attorney. And after reading the rest of this article, methinks a call to his therapist might be helpful:
“As for being ‘unprofessional,’ professionalism can be a good thing,” Pittman said. “However, it can be overemphasized, and often is, by those who are offended by someone who stands up and pulls the mask off of the evil around us. This is spiritual warfare. Professionalism is a secondary concern to opposing and exposing evil.”
I don't even know where to start. Believing he is engaging in "spiritual warfare" and (personally) "exposing evil" is flirting hard with megalomania. While it might not be rare to see this exhibited by a man of the cloth, seeing it exhibited by an
elected appointed leader who helps to create statute is more than somewhat unsettling. Especially someone who wants to bring back public hangings:
A Cabarrus County lawmaker wants to bring back public hangings in North Carolina as a deterrent to crime, and he says doctors who perform abortions should be in the line to the gallows.
Republican Rep. Larry Pittman, who was appointed to the District 82 House seat in October, expressed his views in an email sent Wednesday to every member of the General Assembly.
Wait a minute...did I say "elected leader"? I need to fix that, and I'd like to find out who appointed this nut-bag. Cabarrus Republicans? The state GOP? Thom Thumb? Whoever did it has some 'slainin' to do.
