Gubernatorial Debate: Bev Perdue vs. Pac McTory

McCrory was his whiny, smarmy self. He said that the guy who lays floors in his house makes more money than he does. And all he talked about what demanding this and demanding that, as though "demands" without power to do anything about them actually mean anything. He was, in fact, the arrogant jerk people who know him say he is.

Perdue was careful and prepared. She didn't knock any balls out of the park, but she didn't need to.

The Pacman has a big deficit in the polls. He didn't make up that ground tonight. All he did was whine, which is pretty much what you could expect from him and Duke Energy in the governor's office.

At least it seemed that way early on. I'm not sure who the female reporter was, but she lit into Perdue a few times. They even attacked Bev on the voucher issue, when McCrory is the one who wants to implement the damn thing.

Somebody tell me again who owns WRAL?

I don't think that Senator McCain doesn't care what's going on in the lives of Americans, I just think he doesn't know.

drilling. Just kept asking myself why Perdue is defending any position against off-shore drilling. Why didn't she turn that all around with the truth about drilling and that in the time it would take to get a rig up and running that we could have invested in renewables or alternatives. I was listening to it on the radio and it sounded like Pam Salsby was one of the narrators(?) who kept interrupting Perdue. McWhiner came across the radio along with Salsby as very rude. We should all write to WRAL about how unprofessional it was and how obvious they were in their McWhiner support. (It probably wouldn't hurt to send copies of these letters to your local newspaper too.)

No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots.

What McCrory is saying.

1. North Carolina doesn’t have people who can do basic math.

2. High corporate taxes = punishment for working families.
3. Believes that oil is the key to our children and grandchildren’s future.
4. Shouldn’t offer vouchers to everyone, only to some students, like disabled students.
5. He’s for the “concept of vouchers”
6. Plumbers and carpenters have more talent than he does.
7. Question: Poverty is a huge predictor of performance, how would you help the poor? Vouchers “My school is not fulfilling my needs. I might have a bright child or a child with a disability who comes from a poor family...Selective ‘scholarships’.for...disadvantaged children”
8. Question: Keep jobs in North Carolina, how will you do it? Incentives. We should be selective, with bias towards manufacturing. Corporate tax and personal income tax is detriment to keeping jobs in North Carolina” This must be why we are listed as the best place for businesses according to so many sources. “Small manufacturing companies are the ones we should have a bias towards” not small service businesses.
9. Art? More worried about farmer paying high feed prices. Those are the people that pay for the arts. Basically, art is a luxury we can’t afford right now.
10. Major priority of next governor is to demand of the Next President that we have an immigration court and Detention Center for deportation. No mention of whether parents will be deported while children become foster children.
11. So many false documents, illegal immigrants have 4 or 5 forms of ID.
12. Broad comments about a broad group of people is not okay, now back to illegal immigrants, they are bad.
13. QUESTION: How to deal with undocumented, illegal immigrants? Schools are required by law to teach these kids. But, how much is it costing us to teach these kids? If people knew how much it cost to teach children it would change people's views. Wow.
14. QUESTION: Teachers vs. State Employees, why different raises? Should pay based on market. If there is a shortage we should pay some more, others less.
