Hampton responds to Dalton's desperate attacks

Hampton Dellinger has come out with a new ad, which once again showcases the stark difference between the old school politics of Raleigh and Hampton's bright, optimistic outlook.

Check it out, here:

This ad is up now on some channels. Quick turnaround, given that Dalton put his ad up while everyone was at JJ.

Counterpunching is a very crucial skill. I think we can do it. What do you think?

Best ad yet.

Thanks for sharing it, Dr. Frank.

It is a good ad.

Hampton didn't get my vote, but it wouldn't hurt my feelings if he were elected. This was the hardest, and one of most beautiful (I think) races I've seen since I've been following politics. I can't wait to see the outcome. I want some poli sci type person to write an article or book about it, but I want it to be in accessible language so that I can read it and enjoy it.

What are the latest poll numbers - anyone know?

Ha!

Yes, and he already has the enormous lens.

Great news about the live blogging. I will definately try to stop in. I'm excited to hear what our final voter turnout numbers will be.

beautiful?

Nothing giving me this much heartburn can be considered beautiful... :-)

Poll numbers? We don't need no stinking poll numbers.

Good ad

Hampton knows better than anyone you gotta hit back when you get attacked. John Kerry taught us all a good lesson. If you don't defend yourself you are toast. Good job, Hamp!

That is a helluva ad

Very, very nice

Good ad.

And I have a confession. I haven't voted.

I haven't voted specifically because of this race.

I can't decide.

All the other races I've chosen my candidate. All I know for the Lt. Gov. race is who I'm NOT voting for. After that, I've got three good candidates to pick from and it's driving me up the wall. Tomorrow morning in the voting cube in North Clayton is not going to be pretty. argh.

We need your vote, :)

and your friends' and your family's. He have GOT to beat Dalton. Hampton, Dan and Pat are all good people, but right now it looks like Hampton is the guy who stands the best (perhaps the only) chance of stopping Dalton from winning the incumbent styler race he's been running. And Hampton is no lesser of two evils candidate--he's great on his own right. It would be a real shame if Dalton squeaked by because we splintered.

Timing.

With everyone at JJ, Dalton was very sneaky to put out his ad at that time. If I hadn't seen it, how quickly would someone on the campaign have heard about it? Probably not until the next morning and then you'd have to go cut a video, etc.

I don't like slimy politics.

Slimy? Perhaps.

I view the Dalton ad in the same light I view an intentionally misleading ad that makes deceptive generalizations about environmental endorsements, power of office, etc. Both are unfortunate.

good thing hamp hasn't done any of those

Don't make me uncork the whipping Hampton put on just about everybody with the response to his last ad. Did you see the letter to the editor in the N&O today?

I'd say he came out on top on that one.

Can you provide a link?

Because I seem to remember he said he would bring them home, not continue to try to work on bringing them home. But, none of the ads on his homepage mention anything about the troops, they end with "good jobs to every part of the state."

This reminds me of his claim that he fought to save that woodlands area out west and then it ended up that he was one of a billion people, including Jim Hunt, Mike Easley, John Edwards, etc. He might be overstating his role again. He can and should TRY to influence the process, but if he says he WILL bring them home, that is different.

the text

“Who’s the only Democrat for lieutenant governor endorsed by police and teachers? Hampton Dellinger.

"Backed by civil rights and environmental groups? Hampton Dellinger.

“Pro-choice and will protect women’s health? Hampton Dellinger.

“With a real plan for seniors? Hampton Dellinger.

“The only candidate endorsed by workers? Hampton Dellinger. (the ad was cut before Besse's webpage announced the endorsement of one Firefighters local)

“Fighting to bring jobs to every part of the state... Hampton Dellinger.

“And bring our National Guard home from Iraq? Hampton Dellinger.

“Hampton Dellinger. Democrat for lieutenant governor.”

Fighting to.

Hard to put that op ed into 3 seconds.

"Hampton Dellinger WILL be a great Lieutenant Governor." - Al Gore.

Good thing you mentioned right away

to tip people off. thank you.

And Helms begat Reagan...

Arguably, Ronald Reagan's Helms enabled win in the 1976 NC primary was all the encouragement he needed to try again in 1980, setting the stage for the Reagan Revolution and synergistic escapades like this one...

TrueMeckDem on Myers Park Pat

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
