Harry Taylor
Amidst all the hubbub over the past couple of weeks, one VERY important piece of news got buried here at BlueNC. And I am pleased to dig it up for your reading enjoyment.
Harry Taylor is running against Sue Myrick in the 9th Congressional district. Here's the message from Harry via email:
To My Friends:
Eighteen months ago I stood in an auditorium in Charlotte, NC, and had the opportunity to speak candidly and directly to President Bush. I could never have dreamed of the reaction it created.
Almost immediately the website thankyouharrytaylor.org was estabished where you joined thousands of people across the United States, and indeed the world, to thank me for standing up and being honest with our President. I was deeply moved that you took the time to be a part of this, but more importantly, to know that you stood with me that day.
I am not a politician, nor have I ever sought to become one. But now, I am so seriously concerned about what is happening to our beloved America, I have decided to run for the U.S. Congress.
We face a very divisive partisan incumbent who has been a rubberstamp for Bush's policies on such issues as Iraq and children's healthcare. Success will take enormous effort, and I cannot do it alone. Simply and honestly, I need your help!
I am asking for your contribution to help us take back America. Any amount would be greatly appreciated - $10, $25, $100 - whatever feels right to you. More importantly, will you circulate this appeal among your family and friends and ask them to do the same?
I learned from a friend in Charlotte today that Harry is working right now to get his campaign up and running - and that things are looking good. Sometime in the next couple of weeks, we hope to have Harry Taylor here at BlueNC to meet you all. Until then, please support Harry in any way you can.

The Myrick Mess
Sue PROMISED she would term-limit herself. She PROMISED she'd step down. Looks like we'll have to keep her promise for her.
Fantastic News!
Harry is a wonderful person, known for his integrity and community involvement! What courage it took to confront Bush at that time, in a mostly Bush friendly audience.
He is the kind of person we need leading the country!
This is really great news!
Go Harry Go!!!
I said it before
But I will post it here again for all to see. During the last month of the Kissell campaign Harry volunteered for MoveOn, helping candidates like Tester, Schuler and others. He also volunteered for canvassing and phone banking for Larry, doing over 30 hours in the last month of work for the campaign.
He is a great guy and really nice also.
"Keep the Faith"
That's great to hear
What an awesome opportunity to unseat the rubber-stamping Myrick.
I am really excited about this race; Harry will win!
I remember standing outside that auditorium...
I was protesting outside that CPCC auditorium back then with my "worst president ever" sign, somehow i wasn't invited inside. I had passed out fliers for 2 days announcing the protest to all the students on campus and I was happy to see that several hundred people showed up. At the end of the day we had the presidential motorcade drive right by us. I waved and I still wonder if W waved back from behind his black tinted window...
I didn't hear about the whole Harry Taylor incident until after I got home that day. I'm happy to see he's running, especially against Sue Myrick!
Left on 49
Ha!
I was there outside the auditorium with you and about 300 others! I had a great time, and lost my voice for a while as I recall. That was a powerful protest; but what Harry accomplished inside was so incredible. He was the first person to actually stand up to Bush. I think that really opened the door for others to begin speaking their minds about what was happening to our country.
HARRY!
Great to have Harry in the game. I've come to know Harry over the last couple years and he still inspires me.
JA
YEAHHH HARRY!!!
I hope you throw Myrick under the bus. She had the unmitigated gal to go to the gala opening of the Levine's Children Center at Carolinas Medical Center because she cares so much for children, then votes down health coverage for over 10 million children. I know you have more character than that Harry. Thanks for speaking for all of us. Where can we go to sign up to help with the campaign?
follow the money
Great leader
Smart, cool under fire and progressive through and through, what is not to like ?
This Is GREAT NEWS
Not in Myricks district, Hayes is actually worse, but She Has To Go!!
Now needed a Dole Buster!!
If they were sent to fight, they are too few. If they were sent to die, they are too many!
Citizens running for office
More and more I see regular citizens, not "career" politicians, standing up against the onslaught of mis-placed ideology and poor policy.
If we are to take our country and our state back, it will be when "just folks" start fighting back. Welcome to the new American Revolution, Harry.

yee haw
It will be nice to have a Dem representing me in Congress, can't say I have ever had that before here in NC.
"jump in where you can and hang on"
Briscoe Darling to Sheriff Andy
This is very good news. Myrick needs to start
drawing her pension as soon as possible.
I hope Mr. Taylor gets to cranking soon. Seems like he understands retail politics. That experience will be crucial.

I'm going to go donate. The look of discomfort on Bushie's
face when Harry made his comments in Charlotte was worth a donation in and of itself. Sending Sue Myrick into retirement is priceless.

I have to give Beckwith credit . . . he's good at headlines.
Char-O on the ball?
The Charlotte Observer reports that Harry is running today . . . three days after the rest of the informed world knew about it.
They read about it on a blog.
