None of the above Preverts?

Help name the new GOP caucus! Vitter, Foley, Murphy, Almond, (and others)...* urbinato

They just don't have the punch or push to make a impression on the voters.

Try this?

" Prevert Republican Caucus for Justice"

Or

" The New Republican Caucus Enters with Big Justice"

Or

" The New Amazing Republican Caucus for Suck Ups."

Or

" Screw Your former Republican wives Caucus"

Or

" The Republican Public Restroom Caucus"

Or

" The Hot HO's and Republican Caucus"

Or for the Religious Right

" The Meeting Jesus Republican Sin Caucus"

How about:

the "It's not my fault, nobody ever told me what to do with this crazy thing" caucus,

or the "It's trickle-down economics, actually", caucus,

or maybe the "I'm going to kick your...cute little ass", caucus,

or the "If you don't kiss it doesn't count", caucus,

or the "Not that I really give a shit how you decorate your office, but please tell me someone else came in here and mixed pastels and earth tones, and topped it off with that lamp? I can fix it, but I'll have to go out to my Kia and get my emergency gas can and the pack of matches from that crappy little motel in South Beach", caucus.

Or.......

.....NAMBLA.....

On the serious side...is this a sign of the end for the GOP.

This really has me pondering the state of the GOP. Have we reached some sort of tipping point within the ranks of the GOP? There have been so many cases of right wingers who have been busted within the last year for a number of things, most notably of a sexual nature.

One theory could be that all of these stories started with the allegations against Rep. Foley. Once he was disgraced, everyone who is hiding something - prostitutes, being in the closet, having a history of sexual harassment, etc - starts to kind of implode with the pressure that they too will be busted.

I think there are a lot of factors here but I think it is possible that we're seeing early indicators of real collapse within the GOP.

Of course it wasn't that long ago that I was thinking the same about the Democratic Party (when we lost elections in 2004 even after 4 years of W).

speaking of Almond, here's what his replacement had to say about

speaking of Almond, here's what his replacement had to say about MLK day:

Kenny Furr, commissioners chairman for Stanly County, N.C., on why there should be no problem observing the birthdays of Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert E. Lee on the same day:

"If you get beyond the racial aspect of it and look at the two as Southern leaders, they both exhibited tremendous leadership and self- sacrifice."

Wow. I'm sure Mr Furr will be a real bridge builder.

Nothing says "I'm a flaming racist" like advocating for a celebration of the Confederacy on MLK day.

Mr Furr

is just playing to his base...

Mr Furr Meet General Custer! Well! He is buried somewhere here?

is just playing to his base...*Todd

No doubt about that! It appears that his base extends into South Carolina to the KKK chapters in the State. This is the same kind of racist republican idiot who would suggest that Sitting Bull and General Custer have a birthday party together at the Little Big Horn again.

And Helms begat Reagan...

Arguably, Ronald Reagan's Helms enabled win in the 1976 NC primary was all the encouragement he needed to try again in 1980, setting the stage for the Reagan Revolution and synergistic escapades like this one...

TrueMeckDem on Myers Park Pat

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
