Hey, sister. Hey, friend. Will you run?

What do these NC General Assembly members have in common?

Lucy Allen, Julia Boseman, Linda Coleman, Janet Cowell, Margaret Dickson, Katie Dorsett, Susan Fisher, Alice Graham Underhill, Pricey Harrison, Maggie Jeffus

Yep. They're all women. Very good!!! :)
Yep. They're all relative newcomers to the GA. You know your stuff!!
Yep. They're all well respected progressive Legislators.

But there's something else that links them.

They are all women who's political careers and campaigns were helped by EMILY's list. And on November 1, you have the opportunity to attend an EMILY's list POP (Political Opportunity Program) training day in Raleigh. Do you know a pro-choice woman who would be a great candidate for public office -- now or in the future? Have you ever fancifully tossed the idea around in your own head? I've been to this training before and it is thorough, in-depth, effective, inspiring and absolutely invaluable. It is also free. :)

If someone asked you to run, would you?

If the answer is, "Yes", or "Maybe down the road." or

"Are you crazy!!?"

then you need to clear your calendar on November 1, 2007 and come take advantage of this training opportunity at NCDP headquarters in Raleigh. It's like NOTHING you've ever been to before.

And men -- our dear, strong, good friends -- please don't feel left out. You can't attend the training, but EMILY's List works for you, too. As the EMILY's List mission states,

When women are involved in the political process, our democracy is truly representative. When women make policy, the needs of women and families are not ignored. When women vote, Democrats — who share our values and priorities — win.

Since its inception in 2001, POP has held 114 trainings in 33 states, and trained a total of 4,290 people. This year, POP has 21 training dates scheduled.

Wanna meet EMILY? Go here.
Wanna help elect more and better leaders? Go here.
Wanna bring a friend to the Raleigh POP November 1? Go here.

NC needs more and better leaders at all levels of public service. Ask a friend to run. And get her to this training on November 1.

OK, then. See you there!

EMILY's list is a most excellent organization

My wife (Jane) and I have been involved supporters for a good while now. They get the hard work done.

PS Might want to contact Pat Seibert of Grandmothers for Peace!

The training is amazing.

Come on over to Raleigh Nov. 1, Pat!! I highly recommend it. Even if what you plan on doing right now is working for a pro-choice woman's campaign or you're just looking down the road to when the kids are off in college, you will be so glad you did this.

YD's, College Dems and Dem Women ... send this out to your lists!!

Excellent, Leslie

I don't know that my mother has been through the training, but I know she's been to something put together by Emily's List. I'll have to ask. I've heard from others the training is excellent.

Another beneficiary of EMILY's List and Lillian's List is ...

... State Representative Melanie Wade Goodwin. I didn't want her left out of the universe of folks linked in the original post above. She has publicly expressed time and again her appreciation for the training and dedicated support of both organizations.

Sincerely,

A Super-Fan of Melanie Wade Goodwin

Give it up, Wayne...

Whatever you did to be put on the couch, kissing up on a blog isn't going to help. Get thee to a jewelry store!

Busted! ... But seriously folks, ... :)

Melanie Wade Goodwin rocks

There ya go, Wayne. :) We gotta get that name front and center. I met your lovely wife at Larry Kissell's office and want to do an interview. Do you think she'd agree to it?

Yes she does! ...

ok, ok, I'm a tad biased ... But she wouldn't believe me when I told her about that caption (Melanie Wade Goodwin rocks) until she saw it for herself. She liked it! ... As for the interview, she definitely seemed interested. Maybe you and I can talk with her more about it in the coming days? Do you have some proposed dates or times?

I'll email you

and we'll figure out a time that works. I can send the questions via email. We're not too formal here. It would be wonderful to feature her on BlueNC Women on Wednesday. The next one is in two weeks.
