Hood

When he's not out to destroy the practice of good governance here in North Carolina, John Hood, stage manager at the Art Pope Puppetshow, likes to spread his right-wing lunacy farther and wider than the Old North State. For example, he wrote a comment earlier this month in the National Review:

Basically, anti-war Democrats think that their statements and policy proposals are a response to an impossible situation in Iraq. They have it backward. Their statements and policy proposals are a main reason why the situation in Iraq is so dire. Like it or not, the enemy is counting on them — it is trying to manipulate American public opinion, because it can't win on the battlefield. Their goal is an ignominious American retreat. It cannot be in our interest to comply.

It cannot be in whose interest to comply? The interests of chickenshit pundits who name their children "the little general" and "the little conqueror" to celebrate the high virtues of war and violence? John Hood knows nothing of what he speaks. Like most of the paid mouthpieces of the right, he has not served our nation in uniform.

Here is what I say:

The truth is, no one needs to "manipulate" American public opinion in the slightest. We the People are perfectly capable of judging incompetence and corruption when we see it.

The truth is, the insurgency that our occupying army seeks to quell has already won on the battlefield. America will have no choice but to retreat from this god-forsaken Republican disaster.

The truth is, people like John Hood seek to place the blame for this debacle anywhere except where it belongs: at the feet of the Deserter in Chief, George W. Bush.

I've already given John Hood more credit than he deserves by honoring his comments with a response. Because the truth is, I really only have one thing to say to Mr. Hood.

Why aren't you in the deserts of Iraq putting your life on the line for the cause you hold so dearly? Your cowardice turns my stomach.

His comments are embarrassing

He says that the claim that the Bush administration is the worst ever is preposterous, yet I would put money on him being unable to name anything worse.
He says that we need to protect our allies from a "foreign-back (sic)" insurgency. Fine, that might be true, but it has absolutely nothing to do with Iraq.

I really wish I understood the backwards logic where a speech in America somehow is more important than the actual on the ground actions of our government.

What has more of an effect? The United States supplying Al Sadr with weapons and then saying he is a criminal a year later or saying we should leave? The US giving Sadaam biological weapons and then saying he must be attacked for having them or saying we shouldnt have given him weapons in the first place?

Who has killed more people?
Who has killed more American soldiers?

Where is the rope for John Hood?

Their statements and policy proposals are a main reason why the situation in Iraq is so dire. Like it or not, the enemy is counting on them — it is trying to manipulate American public opinion, because it can't win on the battlefield. Their goal is an ignominious American retreat. It cannot be in our interest to comply.* Chicken SH#$ free loader neo-con John Hood

Hey John! Keeping thinking that way neo-con dude. You are outnumber and outgunned this time around by real patriots. Your neo-con thugs will not spill anymore American blood in the name of Corporate Globalism.

Pardon my outrage

but the stories I'm seeing today about lives cut short have pushed me over the edge. And the cowardice and hypocrisy of pundits like Hood cannot be tolerated.

I ask again, John Hood: Why are you here in your cushy little Puppetshow job? Why aren't you in Iraq or Afghanistan? Why aren't you putting your life on the line for the occupation you're so enamored with?

Im always impressed

when people who have never served in the military presume to know jack shit about war.

He is a 40 year old journalism major, whose only qualification for talking about policy is that he was an intern at the Heritage Foundation. If we followed his rules of who is allowed to pontificate on public policy he would have been kicked to the curb years ago with duct tape on his mouth.

And for all his bullshit

about capitalism, he's never actually created wealth or market value for anyone. All the Puppets suck on the teats of Art Pope's charitable contributions. Never run a business.

So he's never run a business?

You mean I'm more of a capitalist than he is?

Hee.

Basically -

Basically, anti-war Democrats think that their statements and policy proposals are a response to an impossible situation in Iraq. They have it backward. Their statements and policy proposals are a main reason why the situation in Iraq is so dire. Like it or not, the enemy is counting on them — it is trying to manipulate American public opinion, because it can't win on the battlefield. Their goal is an ignominious American retreat. It cannot be in our interest to comply

I find your opinions full of shit, sir. Contrary to your misguided opinion, the enemy is a construct of your failed administration's policies.

Yes, oh yes, indeed the enemy prefers us fighting over there. So much closer to home and so many targets to choose from and all so easily outnumbered. Many of them are using weapons our reconstruction money has provided.

To answer your question:

Why aren't you in the deserts of Iraq putting your life on the line for the cause you hold so dearly?

I served my time in the military, thank you. I serve to fight domestic enemies like you now.

What's your excuse? Why aren't you in the deserts of Iraq putting your life on the line for the cause you hold so dearly?

Mr. Hood and his ilk should remember...

...when throwing around such accusations, the difference between being anti-war and being a pacifist.

I am against this war. But I am no pacifist. And the quickest way to find that out would be to question my patriotism or accuse me of aiding the enemy.

I sincerely doubt Mr. Hood would say that to someone's face. It's easy to write, but it wouldn't be so easy to say.

Personally

im gonna trust this guy over a chickenhawk.

My name is Donald Hudson Jr. I have been serving our country’s military actively for the last three years. I am currently deployed to Baghdad on Forward Operating Base Loyalty, where I have been for the last four and a half months.
:::
Why are we here when this country still to date does not want us here? Why does our president’s personal agenda consume him so much, that he can not pay attention to what is really going on here?

Please read the soldier's story. He gives a complete account of the death of his freind, Michael K Frank, who died on May 10th.

He's right about one thing

The enemy can't win on the battlefield. But guess what? They can't lose, either. Every insurgent that dies has a brother, cousin, etc., who will immediately step up and take his place, and the beat goes on.

And apparently this idiot hasn't noticed, but the anti-war statements and policies have had fuck-all impact on the way the administration has waged this war and mismanaged the lives and resources its been granted to do so.

Also, I've said this before but I will say it again—the radicals do not want us to withdraw, because we're giving them the validity they desperately need to keep their own "fear fantasy" alive.

And Helms begat Reagan...

Arguably, Ronald Reagan's Helms enabled win in the 1976 NC primary was all the encouragement he needed to try again in 1980, setting the stage for the Reagan Revolution and synergistic escapades like this one...

TrueMeckDem on Myers Park Pat

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
