Hoyle to retire
It's hard to question anyone who's 70 years old and wants to get out the sausage factory in Raleigh. But on the heels of Tony Rand's rapid fall from grace, you'll be forgiven for wondering if something smells a little fishy around David Hoyle's recent announcement.
Hoyle, who rooms with Senate Leader Marc Basnight in Raleigh during sessions, is one of the leading voices for business interests in the Senate. His district is competitive and his decision not to run again gives Republicans a legitimate shot at claiming the seat.
Being a voice for business interests in North Carolina is starting to look more and more like being either a crook or a fool or both.
For all their bull about being business focused, these guys sure seem clueless when it comes to the fundamentals of succession planning.

Deja vu all over again again
Only believe it when the filing period ends
This atrocity of a legislator can easily go back on his word. He's got plenty of practice.
I'll keep my fingers crossed
Hoyle has donated generously to the NCDP while in office, I wonder if he'll keep that up after his retirement.

I'll probably get blasted for saying this,
but I'll be glad to see him go, even if a Republican ends up taking his seat. Hoyles' record on environmental issues qualifies him as being a clear and present danger to this state, and I'll not shed a tear upon seeing the ass end of him.
No blasting from me
I'll be glad to see him go, too.
By the way, I got a big lecture the other day from a state senator who was "sick and tired" of the left wing going after good Democrats. "Where's the loyalty?" he said.
Riiiiiiight. Come into my house and let me raise money for you. Call on me to help you get things rolling online. Then spit on me and my friends when it comes time to stand up for regular people?
I'd like to see a single person majority for Democrats in the NC Senate. Maybe then the one or two progressives there would get the time of day from the corporatists and greeders.
There's more to being a good Democrat
than just winning a race, collecting and spending taxpayers' money, and voting for a no texting while driving bill. It's about taking the time to figure out what's right and what's wrong, and then standing up for what's right.
Even if the boys in the backroom don't want you to. Hell, especially if the boys in the backroom don't want you to. That's a good Democrat. Maybe we need to spend more time talking about the good ones?
No blasting from me either
And a Democratic state senator wants to talk about loyalty -- regarding Hoyle?!
This year alone, Hoyle voted against the anti-bullying bull, voted against the Healthy Youth Act, and signed onto the marriage discrimination amendment. Screw this DINO no matter what district he's from.
Good riddance - if he actually goes. A majority without Hoyle is a better majority.
Blasting
Good riddance.
This man is no hero, and while I'm sure it's still hard for Democrats not to get hot and bothered when he flashes his wallet, I wish like hell we weren't caught in a system that rewards wealth over intelligence, integrity and commitment. Hoyle has been cunning but not intelligent, and his effectiveness has everything to do with playing ball with Basnight and Rand, and certainly nothing to do with exerting leadership that inspires admiration.
This is a man who womanized and caroused like the spoiled brat that he is for as long as he was able, thanks to the perks of his place in the good ole boys club. He has no more ethical sense than the lowest rat hoarding treasures in his nest. He stands to gain from investments already made in his role as "public servant" (even typing that phrase is a post mentioning his name seems WRONG), but has no concept of what public service means.
His commitment has been to self-aggrandizement, and it is my dear hope that some day, sooner rather than later, he is exposed for what he is so that none will follow his example.

Well said, as only Brunette can.
Hi Brunette!
Good to see you.
BTW, have you every considered running for office?

I don't know you well, but you seem to know the ins and outs of NC's political picture. I'd vote for you!
Progressive Democrats of North Carolina
Hiya loftT!
That is a very high compliment, particularly coming from a person of your insight and intelligence. But NO, no no I am not the right stuff for running. Too "direct," as they say. I am a good soldier but neither have nor wish to develop the necessary tact for being a candidate.
Good to hear from you, too.

Norwegian spam?
I guess that wins the novelty award for the weekend. Nice sentiments in any case.
SPAM, ain't it lovely?
I wonder if any of these "Spamsters" actually think anyone on a blog like BlueNC will actually be involved with what they present. What a joke.
Personally, I think it is humorous. What worries me is if there are viruses and such in their websites.
I wish there was a way James could block them before they post, but I know that isn't possible.

There's much that gets blocked but there's also some hit and run that's easier to neutralize on the spot. This one is blocked now.
Thanks, greg
Nice to know you guys are on top of that crap. I have anti-virus and such, but these folks know how to get around that stuff.
Love BlueNC.
