I received press credentials for tomorrow's Obama Town Hall in Raleigh
Woohoo! I phoned the North Carolina Press Office of Obama for America just a bit ago and confirmed that I have press credentials for the Raleigh Town Hall Meeting @ the Kerr Scott Building on the State Fairgrounds. Media Access is at 11:00 AM, so I'll have to get there early for parking and the security screening. I'm sure traffic will be a bear. I will take pix and video, and perhaps do live blogging, depending on the set up.
Tickets (free) are required for the public event, and those were gone in a flash. The venue normally holds about 2,000 people.

Yay!!
Way to go, Pam! Hope things go well, and I really hope you can do some live blogging. :)

"They took all the trees and put them in a tree museum Then they charged the people a dollar 'n a half just to see 'em. Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got till it's gone? They paved paradise and put up a parking lot."
Congrats, Pam!
You're turning into a bonafide celebrity, you know that? Better start honing your paparazzi-dodging skills. :)

That's so awesome Pam! Enjoy the access!
Yay, Pam!
This is terrific. Imagine this happening last cycle. Wow.

Of course...there wasn't a presidential election last cycle
...but you know what I mean.

score one for the blogs
I'm glad it happened - nice to know a presidential campaign sees the value in allowing bloggers access to cover events as part of the press corps. I was also granted the same access last year at the HRC/LOGO presidential forum, and the PBS All American Presidential Forum at Howard as well, so slowly but surely things are coming around.
Question -- just curious -- about the state lege - what is the status of allowing bloggers to receive press credentials?

Last year the MSM kept us out
I don't know what they'll do this year.

Big Difference
There is a big difference between a Democratic campaign big on new media and big media.
The Edwards campaign was really big about treating bloggers in the exact same way press were treated. Im not surprised Obama has the same policies. I dont know, but I imagine, and hope, that Hillary is the same.
Its a new world for some, even if we have to drag newspapers along kicking and screaming.

You're out of luck
I don't think the GA allows you to take laptops into the gallery or into the committee rooms, so you can't do any kind of live blogging. However, you don't need press credentials to go into either chamber if you just want to listen and make your own observations.
