Jim Neal lands key blogosphere endorsement - Blue America PAC

I type away solo at my kitchen table most of the time, but on occasion I get a chance to meet or work with the high-traffic, "A-list" progressive political bloggers inside the Beltway.

Many of them, let's say, have certain ideas about the South and NC. They were skeptical about Jim Neal's chances to win the Dem primary, let alone the Senate seat held by Liddy Dole. But after a ton of work by his dedicated campaign team, a zillion posts about Jim's candidacy at my pad, here and other places, along with poll numbers showing how weak Dole is, things slowly started to turn with the A-listers. And it seemed to happen in a big way after the recent FISA stumble by Kay Hagan.

The good folks at Crooks & Liars (John Amato), Firedoglake (Jane Hamsher), Hullabaloo (Digby), and Down with Tyranny (Howie Klein, who has been the one blogger outside of NC really giving Jim exposure), have put their considerably more influential blogtopia weight behind Jim's run.

What: Blue America Live Blog Session with Jim Neal
When: Saturday, March 1st 2pm EST
Where: World Wide at Firedoglake.com

The Blue America PAC was formed on August 24, 2006 to raise money to put "Have You Had Enough" on the radio in the form of 60 second advertising spots for various Blue America candidates. Since its founding, Blue America PAC has raised over $1 million dollars for progressive candidates nationwide. Most recently, they raised over $50,000 for Donna Edwards in her upset victory over Congressman Al Wynn (D-MD) of Maryland in the Democratic Primary. Please watch Firedoglake, Crooks and Liars, Digby's and Down With Tyranny for updates.

thanks for this, pam

I was also one of the people who emailed behind the scenes, although I am pretty sure Christie Hardin Smith was asking herself, "Who is this person?" The Firedoglake crew was great in helping Ned Lamont in Connecticut, although he ultimately lost. This is great news, and I hope these blogs help get the word out that we have a terrific candidate here in NC and we really need to send Liddy Dole the message to stay home at the Watergate and stop bothering us with her bad representation!

thanks to everyone here

The not-so-little engine that could -- folks here at BlueNC get big kudos as well for making this happen. The grassroots approach can make a difference!

Time to get Liddy out, and more importantly, to tell establishment types and the DSCC to let the people decide.

by the way, pam

When you wrote about meeting the "A List" bloggers, I hope you know that around here, you are ALWAYS on our A LIST!

Bloggers like you are why I have gotten out of the house to be more involved in changing things.

Very great news!

I saw Jim at the Adame event in Raleigh tonight. Both candidates were awesome.

2 billion dollars for Wind Power...so that we can burn domestic natural gas in our cars...I think.

TrueMeckDem on Myers Park Pat

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
