Kos: NC "Absolutely In Play"
According to SurveyUSA, North Carolina is currently only a 47-45 McCain state against Obama. And given the torrid growth of the state's Research Triangle, the Democratic gains in the state's 2006 mid-term elections at both the state and federal levels, and the overall negative climate for Republicans, NC is _absolutely_ in play.

The point of Markos' post
was anti-Clinton, but I left that aside because I wanted to focus on the excitement of NC being a major player in both the primary and general elections.
I'm pumped!!
My name is Robert P. and I haven't had a Daily Kos in 1 month.

I'm proud of you
it's poison....so is MyDD. Open Left is not so bad.
Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.
Why, Betsy?
I rarely go there so I'm just curious. Why is it poison? Also, why is MyDD? We got a lot of stuff recommended there last election, didn't we?

The "anti" diaries and hit diaries are in full bloom
It's really terrible. Don't even try to wade through the comments. I'll still post some there, but I don't see it calming down until after we have our nominee. The sites will calm down until the next presidential campaign. Ish.
Thanks, B. I thought you were saying they were hopeless
into infinity. I like that people will fight for their candidate but some of us get repulsively zealous. And I do mean all of the connotations (and denotations) of the word repulsive.

you're so right.
After checking out other sites on occasion it makes the the action here seem incredibly civil and thoughtful. We (can i say that though I've only been a member for a few weeks?...--course i've been a long-time lurker) get pointed and can become somewhat agitated, but overall I think BlueNC has some of the highest quality of discussion (despite how some might characterize my marathon blogging session earlier this week... ;-)
Proud Progressive (I hesitate to abbreviate your name!)
You can definitely say "we", and it's the quality of discussion and community that keeps me here. And we all get a little elbow room for some passionate blogging here and there.

and can make you more than angry. It makes you disregard work. It's ....in a word... poison to some. :-D
I only go over to the Big Orange Satan on weekends, or when someone here specifically requests "recommends." Otherwise I get lost in there for days.

I spent a year banging my head against the wall for Edwards
The venom eventually became too much. Additionally, the "progressive" blog has become anything but at the upper levels. Still plenty of progressives in the ranks. Anyway, too much vitriol for my taste.

I am still amazed at the venom aimed at Edwards, Robert
I think it was Brian Williams on the DAily Show not long ago (it might have been Chris Wallace) that talked about John like he was scum (and it was widely accepted as a phony and a joke) and Stewart just nodded like he understood. He didn't even say "Why do you say that?" Edwards was already out of the race. I don't get it. What has he ever done to deserve that? I know we're talking Fox or MSNBC but The Daily Show, too? Anyone anti-corporation (or hold corporations accountable) has been demonized by RUsh and his wannabes but it seems to have gone mainstream these days even among some Democrats.

Are any pollsters or pundits factoring in
how many new voters might register to vote once Obama is the nominee (IF he is nominated). Where I lived in Maryland, the numbers of new voters (all for Obama) was staggering. It fueled Donna Edwards stunning victory over incumbent Al Wynn.
I'm just wondering how many of the currently disenfranchised will sign up and show up and vote once he's the nominee (who would still sit by the sidelines for a primary, figuring "same old same old.)
I haven't kept up on any presidential stuff lately but it seems that's a factor that could make the McCain v Obama numbers in North Carolina (and anywhere there's a large black population) change significantly.

can't speak for the whole state...
but i can speak for my community. i work at our local library, and we're all pretty much a united front for obama (even the republicans). i hear a lot of enthusiasm among community members who come in, too...not only is everyone stoked that nc will actually matter in this primary, but the general sentiment is that we're all excited to be able to help push obama even closer to the nomination. i doubt that we're reflective of the state as a whole, but it is pretty awesome to see so many republicans fired up for a democratic nominee. ;)
In 3 days of working the cafeteria at lunches
the teen dems at my high school registered 25 students - 15 dems, 9 una and one lonely rep. I do like those percentages.
We might have to try that again!!!
