Larry Brown: You liberals

One of the honorables in Raleigh, Representative Larry Brown, was kind enough to grace my mail box with this delightful message:

I cannot tell you in a kind way what you liberals can do with all your waste that would make the hog lagoon issue look like a diaper. Enjoy while you can. Post that on your web page and come visit me anytime. Larry Brown

His message was written in response to this note from me:

Dear Hard-Working Representative,

Following the recent convention of the North Carolina GOP in Charlotte, a number of Republican Representatives wrote to me, complaining that the Democrats in North Carolina really aren't the majority party in the House because their candidates actually received more votes in 2006 than Democrats received. One of my colleagues recently completed an analysis of that talking point, which I am sure you'll find interesting. Her report is posted here for your easy review.

All I can say is, I'm sure glad I don't have this guy representing me in Raleigh. And I feel sorry for anybody who does.

My daddy

was a retired postal worker, like Larry Brown. I don't guess he'd much approve of my liberal political leanings, but he would definitely find Mr. Brown's outburst offensive.

You see, Mr. Brown works for US. We pay him to represent ALL the people. If he thinks liberals don't deserve the same consideration as god-fearing Theocrats, I respectfully suggest he resign from the North Carolina House. In fact, I demand it.

Apologize, Mr. Brown. Or step down.

By the way- are there any readers or lurkers in Davidson and Forsyth? Maybe someone would like to write a letter to the local paper on Mr Brown.

Right Larry! I want a appointment with you right now and you explain to me how in the hell your President screw up this country in a short 6 years.

And stop blaming Liberals for the mail for not coming on time and raising those damn stamp costs every month.

My daddy

also was a postal worker, but he didn't live to retire.

True enough

I cannot tell you in a kind way

No, apparently he can't tell you in a kind way. Nasty.

I almost missed this part.

Enjoy while you can.

What is this? A threat? Are you going to institute martial law in NC, Mr. Brown? Close off avenues of free thought and expression? Good luck.

Maybe the Postal Service plans to bring back the Pony Express

Maybe the Postal Service plans bring back the Pony Express. Once people see how much more effective the postal service has become, they will abandon the internets, and all us peoples with our crazy keyboards and floppy disks will have no one left to talk to. Larry Brown is hip to the secret we were all hoping wouldn't get out: the internet is just a fad.

Anyone seen Liddy?

Talk about political suicide

or someone with huge, huge brass balls.

My minimal understanding of politics states you dont do this and win the next election, unless your unopposed.

I thought duffises like this guy where only found on the "dukes of hazard", you know, that little dude in the all white suit and shows like that.

This kind of thinking is not needed or wanted at Raligh.

A. u just really be hated by this guy for him to make that kind of statement? What did you do? Ask him why hes a butthead?

I really dont want him making decisions for me even thou he does not represent me.

I have never seen a politician threaten a group of people in my life. I have heard about guys that think they have this kind of political power, but that was way back in the early 40s and 50s.

Alot of what A. says is the views of many folks in North Carolina. For this guy to threaten A. means he has this contempt toward anyone with the ideas expressed on this website. What a dunce this guy is. He also feels that we are insignificant, and that is inappropriate from a politician.

If I ever am near this guy when he is talking i will go out of my way to disrupt what ever he is saying. He does not deserve to be member of the North Carolina GA.

I keep getting these really angry emails

from people who say they're democrats but sound an awful lot like Republicans. Some of them even sign their names. And, surprise, surprise, of all the people who have signed a name, I have found not one of them registered Democrat in the state of North Carolina. Sometimes they are angry over a minor error. I fix the error and thank them, but their venom just doesn't make sense. Why don't they complain about what's really bothering them?

Remember before 04 and even before 06 when Republican pundits kept saying there's so much anger out there towards Bush. They kept calling us "Bush-haters" instead of rational people justifiably angry at sending our kids off to die for a lie.

They're the unjustifiably angry ones. And they really have only themselves to blame: for their hypocrisy, for their mean spirit, for their fears, for their inability to believe the richest country in history CAN afford to feed and educate its people, provide health care for all, and still be fair and just in our tax system. I know we're not there yet. But it's a noble, worthy goal that most of them don't even want to consider.

We're the patriots, they're the wimps. And this pathetic dude is a poster boy for their lack of respect, faith, or intelligence.

word

I don't get these guys...

I've experienced so much rudeness from NC's legislators (including my own) that I really don't understand how these people get elected.

Are county parties so ineffective at finding viable candidates that these guys run unopposed at every election?

Did some looking

Brown was unopposed in 2006, beat a libertarian in 2004. The person who held that seat before him was also unopposed in 2002.

The good news is that at the end of 2006 he had 7,000 in the bank. In 2004 (his first election) to beat the libertarian he spent 35,000. So, anyone who wants to challenge him, dont worry, the campaign wont be that expensive.

Marshall Adame's picture

Mr. Browns outburst of anger to Robert is a sad commentary..

on the quality of GOP representatives serving in Raleigh.... The Bush years have sowed seeds of arrogance and foolish pride in Republicans in every state of our country. Ruling has become thier mantra, not serving.
Money, not character, has becaome thier currancy. Power has become thier validation, not integrity. They have lost touch. So Sad.

That's it, Marshall:

Power has become their validation, not integrity.

I'm seeing that everywhere, even in the democratic party old school folks. It's very sad.

Larry's Response

I'm not sure if anyone else sent him an e-mail, but I got a got a response this afternoon:

When you liberals try to send me a bunch of trash I respond. I did not initiate the exchange, but I will not yield one inch. I did not bully anyone or use foul language. You people can wallow in all your " votes for sale " attitude all you want, but I am not a part of your conspiracy to rob the citizens of North Carolina honest service.

All your buddies have not been sentenced yet. If Republicans take money for votes I want them to go to jail too. Get a real life. I am not coddling to a bunch liberal ideas either like lifestyles or sexual orientation. If you do not like it that is too bad. I am sure I will lose a lot of sleep over it.

BlueNC sent me an email and I answered just like I did with yours. If I never hear from you again, you will never hear from me. Have a nice life. Larry Brown

Rep. Brown,
I saw your response to Anglico of BlueNC.com earlier
today and was appalled that a public servant would feel the need to
attempt disparage such a large (and growing) percentage of the the NC
electorate. This attitude is leading to the deterioration of a common
decency in politics and in our culture at large. Bill O'Reilly-esque
abrasive bullying should have no place in the halls of our government
in Raleigh. I beg you to show some civility in dealing with people who
have differing views from your own because you current actions have
made me ashamed to have a person as yourself as a Representative of
the great people of North Carolina.

The so-called "bunch of trash"

was SD's excellent analysis of the 2006 voting results. But then, I expect most Republicans to consider "facts" as a "bunch of trash" . . . especially people like Mr. Brown. As he proudly declares on his website, Larry Brown is a Christian. God is on his side.

as if

I did not bully anyone or use foul language.

Amazing how someone can so totally miss the point.

And this relates to what?

Get a real life. I am not coddling to a bunch liberal ideas either like lifestyles or sexual orientation.

Take one issue - just one - and wrap the whole disrespect in that attitude. What a closed mind.

You know, I think I just figured it out - he must be so used to that (-R) lockstep thinking that he doesn't realize there is more to serving the electorate than one issue with one point of view.

How sad and silly.

Culture of Ugly.

We don't need a Culture of Ugliness in NC.

Why are the Republicans so angry and ugly? It's not just in NC - you see it from DC on down. What is the problem? Too much money? Too much power?

Well...in the words of the totally awesome Red Hot Chili Peppers...

Give it away give it away give it away give it away now

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
