Leaving the Goodwin House

I wanted to let you all know that May was my last month as a member of the North Carolina Democratic Party staff.

For over two years I have helped the NCDP to administer the voter file, develop online infrastructure, and engage citizens via new media. I got an excellent education in how citizens and elected officials shape our state's future on a day to day basis. It was a great privilege to work with the NCDP's diverse and talented staff in such an historic election season.

There is lot more work to be done. I look forward to seeing how we build our party to encourage new people to come in and help us get Richard Burr out. I'm also eager to see how Organizing for America will secure Obama's agenda for healthcare, better working conditions, and clean energy.

I want to do as much of this work as I can, and I feel I can more aggressively pursue change outside the Goodwin House than inside. I'm taking a gamble in hopes of finding a better point of leverage to secure reform. Along with OFA's agenda I'm interested in:

I don't have a set plan. Maybe I should crowdsource my career plans. How do you think a young person with some tech skills and a background in field organizing can best promote democracy and justice?

To the best of my knowledge (which is limited), the North Carolina Democratic Party is doing well. The big fundraising dinner Jefferson Jackson was an unprecedented success. Andrew Whalen will be staffing up, hopefully including staff that will provide support to county and auxiliary organizations. David Young has repeatedly committed to increase our technology capacity. We have a host of impressive candidates for the Senate race, all of whom are capable of making it to DC. Anthony Foxx is on track to become the first Democratic Mayor of Charlotte since Harvey Gantt; Foxx will also be the youngest Mayor to ever serve Charlotte.

BlueNC has given and given to me whenever I have asked. While I have some time, I'd like to pay down a bit of the debt. Please let me know if there is something I can help out with. Thank you for your work.

Thanks for your hard work and effort

Thanks for your hard work and effort, Jerimee. NCDP is stronger as a result of your time there.

Our house is your house

And you're welcome to move in here at BlueNC any time you want. You're an invaluable asset to North Carolina and I echo Dan's sentiments ... thank you for all you do.

Jerimee--you are amazing!

Jerimee, Please allow me to publicly state how you have provided wonderful services to NCDP, candidates, social justice issues, and elected officials. (myself included) You were always so very helpful and I cannot thank you enough. I wish you all the very best in the future-you deserve it! Thank you again! Stay in touch.

Wow...

I hope the Party can afford the five people it will take to replace you.

BlueNC has given and given to me whenever I have asked. While I have some time, I'd like to pay down a bit of the debt.

Um, I believe it's the other way around, dear friend. Just as our Party has benefited from your efforts, so has BlueNC. But if you're bound and determined to give, then give us your mind in the form of your words. I can think of no greater commodity than that. :)

Seconded

You've been a gift.

That sort of attitude

is why you won the YDNC award. Always working for good, above and beyond the call of duty. Though I would suggest having more fun with some of that spare time that you devote to Democratic causes ;-)

Jerimee Rocks

Jerimee, you will continue to make important contributions. Thank you for everything you've done so far. You've been a tremendous help with campaign stuff ("how do I download this YouTube video?") and you will have no shortage of work. I for one look forward to Jerimee unleashed . . .

Thank you

Jerimee, you brought the NCDP into the internet age, and we're going to reap the benefits of that forever (or at least until the next cataclysm).

Thanks for reaching out to people across the state and partnering with us to advance our values. Political parties are valuable to the degree that they provide a competent vehicle for people who want to make a difference. Your internet outreach opened the door to that vehicle, and I felt invited and included in the Democratic Party in a way I never had before.

See you around,

Gordon

Jerimee

You have done and outstanding job and I am sure you will do so in all future endeavors. Looks like you have an infinite number of recommendations!

sad to see you go

But not too sad. I have a sneaking suspicion that you're going to be involved in things to come. Talented activists are always in demand and I'm sure you'll land on your feet, left foot first of course.

Best,
