"Let them eat cake! Or at least take the stairs..."

Virginia Foxx suffered a serious Marie Antoinette moment and was caught by Washington's insider The Hill and busted for it. Apparently, she doesn't like anyone but the anointed riding her elevator with her. From The Hill:

"The lawmaker, who was recently elected to a House GOP leadership post, asked for whom the pair worked. Then she turned to the female staffer, who had no clue she was on board what was soon to be the elevator ride of doom. Foxx said to the staffer, “This is a ‘members-only’ elevator; can you read?” She then demanded the staffer’s name before the elevator stopped after going just one more floor up. “Get out here,” Foxx supposedly commanded.

More after the jump, including an exclusive photo of Foxx introducing a bill to require all House Reps to wear Members Only jackets from now on. :)

Before our insider and the berated staffer exited, [Foxx] exclaimed, “What does this sign say? It says, ‘Members of Congress only.’ ”

But that wasn’t it. The innocent staffer attempted to point out that the sign next to it stated, “during votes,” which is when, our tipster says, Foxx started yelling, “Members only!” as she pointed to signs. “I’m just making sure we are hiring people who know how to read,” the lawmaker said."

Had I seen her on the elevator...

...I would have waited for another. It would be just my luck there would be a malfunction and I would have found myself in a very undesirable situation.

I would have boarded and

I would have boarded and pressed the "stop" button. The subsequent arrest and questioning would be totally worth the earful I would give her.

I'm still disappointed we didn't elect Motsinger here.

I share that disappointment

Motsinger ran a strong campaign, but Foxx's special brand of hatefulness has special attraction ... to people who can't stop thinking of themselves as oppressed victims.

We are not amused.

This is both a big deal and not a big deal...

...the former because we've let Congress become a culture of entitlement and the latter because lots of congresscritters from both sides of the aisle do this. It's a lot like Barbara (call me Senator, I've earned it) Boxer berating that soldier who was testifying a few years ago. I doubt Motsinger is Mother Teresa, either. But assuming this is true, I doubt the folks in Banner Elk will take it well and she'll probably draw a primary next go-round.
