Logistics?

Liddy Dole's campaign is unable to meet the logistical challenges presented by Pat McCrory's fundraiser in Raleigh with President Bush. No doubt Elizabeth Dole is deeply disappointed that her veteran campaign staff were unable to provide her with the opportunity to greet our president in "her" state.

From the N&O:

Dole spokesman Hogan Gidley said she would not attend today's fundraiser.

"Any presidential visit requires a ton of logistics, and we have a busy schedule mapped out for the summer and fall months," Gidley said.

What are the logistical challenges that prevent Senator Dole from showing up at Bush's fundraiser for McCrory? I've created a list of possibilities:

  • Big Oil has requested a summit in Moscow on how global leaders can better serve their interests. They made it plain that Dole's presence is mandatory.
  • It is the same day Dole is being honored for her champion Orchid Gardens in Topeka,Kansas.
  • Inability to reshuffle previous commitments to shoot joint advertisements for Viagra and Bojangles.
  • With a full schedule of two public events for the month of June, there is no way Liddy's calendar could possibly be packed any more tightly.
  • The fundraiser will require Elizabeth Dole to engage in small talk, and the staffer responsible for writing her small talk is on vacation this week.
  • Having very little familiarity with all the new roads built in North Carolina since the 1950s, Elizabeth Dole is actually unable to find the location on a map.

Dole at the state convention?

Driving to New Bern this afternoon (um...highway 70, is it?), the roadsides were littered with Elizabeth Dole signs. It last miles and miles and miles. I suppose it's a little elbow after the Hagan campaign "greeted" her at the GOP state convention.

But I have to say this...are they REALLY her signs? I mean, they are just blue background with white lettering that says "Elizabeth Dole" and then her website. It doesn't even say U.S. Senate or anything. Weird.

Oh well, like my friend who was driving said, that means she can use the signs for running for dog catcher...

What is in a sign Oh" Lord on Hwy 70 to New Bern?

Hwy 70 is the most political sign highway in the state. After every election, the locals spring to action and use the old campaign signs.
