McCan't Choses a Woman
So John McCain decides on Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska. But didn't he just go back on what he said about Barack Obama not being experienced when he picked Palin? It does appear so.
Sarah Palin was first took office in 2006 as Governor of Alaska. Previous to being governor Palin was on the Wasilla City Council from 1992 to 1996 and was the Mayor of Wasilla. She had an unsuccesful run for Lieutenant Governor. She also was interviewed by then Governor Frank Murkowski, but wasn't chosen to replace him in the Senate when he was elected Governor. She did serve on the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission from 2003 to 2004.
So what does this prove? This proves that John McCain went back on his word that Barack Obama is not experienced. Alaska is a pretty small state so no amount of other service other than the governorship or being a US Senator from the state would add much to her resume. When you're chosing a running mate, you're chosing the next President of the United States in the chance that something happens and you can no long discharge your duties as such. She also has some strikes against her beyond that. She's an actual "change agent" in Alaska, but right now (including her own office) politics in Alaska is being tested because of corruption scandals involving high-ranking Alaskan politicians (such as Sen. Ted Stevens). That's a very risky move Mr. McCain, or should I say Mr. McCan't?
Also look at the fact that McCain was the one to chose a woman. I think he's pandering to the female electorate. But do I think it'll work? No. Because you've got Hillary Clinton fully backing Obama. Secondly, she's against a woman's right to chose and against any kind of equality for same-sex couples (though she did veto legislation on a ban for same-sex benefits, but only because of constitutional reasons). She does not stand for Hillary's beliefs and those who supported Hillary will support Obama.

It seems the only plus for McCain is...
that she may help to fire up the conservative base being a hard line ideologue. I don't think she will draw in female swing voters though, simply because she is female because her positions on women's rights is horrendous.
Risky indeed.

Neo-Con War Monger Bill Kristol loves Palin as the choice!
Among Palin's major backers has been New York Times columnist and Fox News contributor Bill Kristol.
Writing of Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal and Palin, Kristol wrote Aug. 4: "They’re very popular with conservatives, especially social conservatives. And they’re real reformers. They’ve begun to do in Baton Rouge and Juneau what many voters would like to see done in Washington. Principled conservatism and vigorous reform could be a winning combination."
"McCain himself... is intrigued by the bolder possibilities of youth or bipartisanship," Kristol added. "And he could be especially intrigued by Sarah Palin and Meg Whitman. I run into plenty of moderate and conservative women who don’t consider themselves feminists but would be pleased to see a qualified woman on the ticket."
Policy, policy.
Beyond the facts of her inexperience and the ongoing investigation of her alleged abuse of state personnel firing, concentrate on where she stands in policy:
--She is hard-core anti-choice.
--She is on the anti-environment extreme fringe, actively supporting even driliing in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge--a position that even McCain himself finds unacceptable.
--Ralph Reed, the disgraced former leader of the so-called "Christian Coalition", says that his far-far-right ideological colleagues are "beyond ecstatic" by the selection of Palin.
Anyone who supported Hillary Clinton's historic campaign will rightly be horrified by the prospect of Palin just John McCain's heartbeat away from the presidency.

good point.
I hope that Hillary sends out an email under Barack's system and through her own saying "Vote for McCain and we're one breath away from a President who makes Bush's supreme court look liberal. We'll be back to protesting and burning bras for our rights if you vote for McCain."

It could only be a joke.......
If it wasn't so sad. This woman's history and record of non-achievement make her Dan Quayle with a sex change.
My grandmother was an MD and served 3 terms in the General Assembly when life for women was alot harder than it is now, wouldn't have been offended by my little funny, she would have just smiled, but if you were, I am sorry.
"What is it exactly that the V.P. does every day?" - Sarah Palin
She's just another corrupt AK politician under State investigation for abuse of office. We've seen this before.
Miss Congeniality
You know how John McCain always jokes that, alas, once again this year he wasn't voted Miss Congeniality?
Well guess who was!
Went home for lunch and turned on (geez, it's even hard to type)
Fox news.....they were actually drooling over this pick and it was hard to understand some of what they were saying. Although they didn't show clips of it, they were claiming that they saw a group of women with signs stating that they were Hillary supporters for mcCain. I guess they didn't have time to get the signs printed and to convince some women to hold them up.
No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots.
