McHenry: GOP Pawn
And the press swoons over our favorite Republican Congressman Patrick McHenry (NC-10) again, sort of. The Winston-Salem Journal has this piece that basically says that McHenry is running again and he is a GOP pawn. We already knew that McHenry was pro-torture, now from the article:
Freshman members of Congress usually remain in the shadows as they learn their way around Capitol Hill.
But Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-10th, is not your typical freshman.
"When I ran for office, I promised to be outspoken," McHenry said yesterday.
Last week, McHenry announced that he would run for re-election.
He has made the rounds of national talk shows, defending embattled Rep. Tom DeLay, R-Texas, the former House majority leader, and promoting conservative ideals.
"I think when someone has been unfairly maligned, we all have an obligation to stand up and say, 'Enough is enough,'" he said.
McHenry is a member of the Republican Whip Team, a position for which he was hand picked by Rep. Roy Blunt, the House Majority Whip. He was even the cover story, albeit in a less-than-flattering article, in Washington Monthly, last fall.
A Delay and Blunt shill from our own state; we should be so proud.

McHenry is a wagon
hitched to the wrong star. It will be fun to watch him run away from these ties when the current Republican leadership rat's nest is cleaned out.
