McHenry's Latest Tantrum

Little Patty McHenry, the miniature pit bully of North Carolina is back in the news. He's mentioned prominently in today's New York Times Politics Blog under the heading "It's not Whining."

After a discussion of Steny Hoyer's move into the grander quarters of Tom Delay's former office, Kate Phillips, who hosts the The Times' blog, reports that there was a gathering of disaffected Republicans upstairs. She describes seeing our Rep. McHenry "waving his hands and stomping his feet" for the benefit of the press, and then he whined at the very highest register of his irritating little voice, "It is so hypocritical, just on its face!"

The precise source of his unhappiness wasn't immediately clear to Ms. Phillips so she inquired after his distress. According to her report, his complaint was "That Democrats, on the verge of taking control of Congress, were planning to run the place their way, driving the legislative agenda themselves without input from the Republican minority."

(imagine here an expression of indignation and a pouting lower lip.)

Some nearby member of the press asked the little man if "his whining" wasn't just sour grapes, and hadn't the Republicans run Congress just as they had wanted for more than a decade? To which our dyspeptic little Congressman replied, "[But] we didn't campaign on this openess. It's not whining... it's a matter of calling them out on their rhetoric."

Did you ever think you'd miss being represented in Washington by Jesse Helms? At least he wasn't some scaled down version of Eddie Haskell from "Leave it To Beaver." Helms was a genuine villain who came across like a man you were proud to hate. McHenry, on the other hand, is that tiny little whiner from 7th grade who no one liked, but no one would fight, because if you did then you'd be forced to touch him.

LOL: "Scaled-down Eddie Haskell"

Soooo true. But the best was your closing: "because if you did then you'd be forced to touch him."

McHenry world is a very strange place.

oh my gosh George!

That is the first time I've laughed out loud at 7am in a long time. Wow. Eddie Haskell. That's a keeper.

Jesus Swept ticked me off. Too short. I loved the characters and then POOF it was over.

Patty the small man

both in stature and character

Good Post George...when we going dancing again?

No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots.

And the best thing, George, is that Patty is going to supply you with a steady stream of stupidity, hypocrisy and incompetence of the next 18 months. By the time you're done, his district will be scrambling like hell to find a new buddy for the Beaver.

This is too good:

(I know we're leaking conversations from one post to another but this is so apt)

From the internets tubes, I located this astrological reading specifically generated by the birth data of dear Congressman McHenry for today, Jan 5, 2007:

Loneliness and self-pity sometimes come with this influence. You feel surrounded by bright, positive energies that you simply cannot relate to. You may feel like a gray presence among colorful people. Do not take such feelings seriously, unless you have them frequently. In general today, you may encounter aspects of yourself that you would prefer not to face.

I'd post a link but you'd have to have my password. It's on You have to enter the birth data (unknown for time) and then click on personal daily horoscope.

From what I've heard "everyone" in Washington D.C. knows that Patty McHenry is gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that, except for the fact that Congressman McHenry has always been a vocal advocate of "traditional values" and strongly supports a constitutional amendment outlining marriage as the union of one man and one woman. He believes that Congress must act to curb the influence of judicial activists who seek to recklessly redefine marriage and other traditional institutions.
Can you say whiny ass hypocrite?

Poor Patty!

It must be tough, living with all that cognitive dissonance.

All I want for Christmas

Please God, someone lock McHenry in a dark room with Jim Webb for about 30 minutues.

It's as funny today

as it was yesterday when we talked about Dana Milbank's coverage of this in the WaPo.
