Message from Harry Taylor

Here’s a message from Harry Taylor:

I’m Harry Taylor, and I’m running for Congress.

By now you have probably seen the video of me standing up to George Bush in Charlotte a year and a half ago. And you know that in Congress, I will stand up for values that matter to you.

Here’s how I line up with my opponent on some of the most important issues we face as a nation:
On Iraq:
I opposed the invasion of Iraq from the beginning and support the withdrawal of our troops as well as renewed focus on diplomacy in the region.
Rep. Sue Myrick:
Supports the Bush Administration’s occupation of Iraq in their endless war.

On Healthcare:
I support access to health care for all Americans and believe that no American should face financial ruin due to medical crisis.
Rep. Sue Myrick:
Voted against SCHIP (children’s health care), and refused to override Bush’s SCHIP veto on two additional votes.

On the Environment and Energy Independence:
I support the development of renewable energy and efficiency initiatives to replace our reliance on carbon; I’m calling for a moratorium on new coal-fired power plants.
Rep. Sue Myrick:
Voted to provide billions in tax breaks for big oil and gas firms.

On Civil Liberties and FISA:
I oppose Bush's warrant-less wiretapping of American citizens and immunity for telecom companies who broke the law.
Rep. Sue Myrick:
Voted for increased surveillance of Americans without warrants.

On the Economy:
I stand for fiscal responsibility; restoration of sound economic policy and spending practices; fair trade policy that protects American jobs and development of green industries and manufacturing.
Rep. Sue Myrick:
Supports George Bush’s tax cuts for the wealthiest citizens while spending $10 billion dollars per month in Iraq.

I was recently struck by this quote from Dr. Martin Luther King :
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”

I refuse to be silent.

At noon on Tuesday, February 26th, I’m filing for Congress. But I need your help to get to the finish line.

Since When is Campbell Brown My Hero?

Trying to get a straight answer out of McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds.

BTW: I'm glad that Talking Points Memo posted this excerpt on Youtube, but since when does TiVo'ing something allow you to brand it with your logo? That's the Wild West...

The Dark Side Chronicles

Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory says he wants to change the culture in Raleigh. I guess that's why he wrote this letter to PAC lobbyists asking for their fundraising help. Change you can believe in? Riiiiiiight. Join the conversation here.
