Monday Morning Post
Submitted by kmr on Mon, 04/21/2008 - 8:03am.
Good Monday to ya.
Bank of America reported a 77 percent drop in profit this am. Char-O story on it.
Meanwhile,
• Clintons on the road in NC again.
• Getting down to the wire in Pennsyllvania
• And Over There
• I know that most of this country has no clue about what's going on in Zimbabwe, but it really bothers me. It'll be one of those things we'll one day admit we overlooked while we were promoting democracy elsewhere.
• Paging Charlie Gibson. If there is another debate this is surely a question that's on the minds of the American people.

Could Fox News get any more pathetic?
What a bunch of assholes.
Oh...I don't think they've hit rock bottom yet
I do think they are close.
Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.
Unfortunately, I believe the answer is yes and also
unfortunately, I believe we will get to see much of it in the near future.
North Carolina. Turning the South Blue!
Ok - I've got to admit it, I noticed it before the pundits.
So did the rest of my family. But it's the exact gesture we use (in jest!) to each other when we're fake arguing.
In this case, I think he just had an itch.

I am old enough to recall when Mugabe was sort of moderate - but time has a way of turning many popular leaders into "I can do what I want" dictators. Running off farmers and turning land over to his know-nothing cronies is a poor business model, but he and Boy King are equally clueless.
Now, China, which does not understand modern public relations, has decided to send weapons to its new BFF in Africa, and is shocked - shocked! when labor unions in South Africa refuse to unload the shipment. This is really a problem that Africa will need to tackle without our interference - with the refugee crisis Mugabe has created and the massive starvation and environmental degradation, all of Africa needs to put pressure on. What we in the West can do is cut off his bank accounts and make leaving or living his high style very difficult for him and his buddies.
These stories of Chinese troops there are very worrisome, though. Hard to believe that Zimbabwe was once a huge food producer in Africa.

We have become that 'paper tiger' that China referred to ....
maybe 40 yrs ago, but was weary of testing us. Now that we are bogged down in our 'war of choice', for the oil, we will see a lot more efforts by China in spreading their huge economic dominance, which we generously bestowed on them. And because we don't 'do' foreign policy, the 'allies' will not step in the breach in Zimbabwe. Pathetic.
re: Over There
I've seen so many consumed women near death themselves by tearful wailing grief that my ability to connect feels less than it once was. Of all the things there are to fear in this world, that one keeps me up at night -- that someday the pictures of someone deep in a hell of fear, confussion and crushing unexpected loss will make me feel nothing. I ask myself, "Do you feel it? Am I still human?"

Informative post, Jerimee, but
with Burr, Dole and Fox as my reps in Congress, it would be a waste of time. But it's always good when some major media finally steps up to report the obvious of what has been going on especially with this useless administration.
