Moore Money
Mark Binker has a good post that reports on some encouraging comments from Richard Moore regarding the upcoming budget clash.
Moore is not enamored with the $1.2 billion the Senate would spend on Certificates of Participation (known as COPs), which is a way for the state to borrow money without going to the voters for bond approval. (snip) The state constitution, he said, is fairly clear on how government should go about borrowing. "If they're such great ideas, why can't we vote?" Moore said.
I'm with Richard Moore on this and I applaud him speaking about on this issue. As the House and Senate go into meltdown mode to reconcile their budgets, it's good to know where leaders stand.
We can only wish Mark had asked Moore where he stands on making the temporary taxes permanent. Because the truth is, the only reason the Senate wants to go so far into debt is because the Democratic leadership has caved to the Republican minority on repealing the temporary taxes. Those taxes should not be repealed. They should be made permanent. Especially the income tax on wealthy households.

Glad Moore spoke up on this one
Now if Mr. Mike would poke his head out of his shell.
Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.
It is refreshing that he took a stand early.
I like that in a person.
