Dean Naujoks, Upper Neuse Riverkeeper, will be conducting [the second] information orientation on the Muddy Water Watch Citizen Monitoring Project on December 18, 2007 from 6:45-9:00 pm.

If you're a sportsman/woman, a birder, a paddler, a lover of seafood, or a busy regular working citizen who likes clean drinking water, this is the action group for you. It's totally non-partisan, totally bi-partisan, totally poly-partisan and totally cool. :)

Sediment carried by stormwater runoff from construction sites in North Carolina has been documented as the leading source of pollution to rivers and lakes throughout our state. ... Sediment is literally clouding and choking the life from our once clear rivers and lakes.

If you live outside the Triangle, find your local Riverkeepers Alliance rep and see if they're setting something up for your area. Here's a message from the Drive-By Truckers (one of my son's favorite groups) about our rivers ...

Paying attention isn't always easy, it takes effort and time, but I think the TJ quote from the Muddy Water Watch website says it all:

And just so everyone knows, this isn't just for the Triangle area of NC. Muddy Water Watch is a NC wide program. Find the Riverkeeper near you. If you've got time, go get your boots muddy. If you've got money, donate to their work. If you've got a blog or a list serve, promote their work.

Dems, 'publicans, Progressives, Libs, Cons, granolas, crunchies, evangelicals, atheists, entrepreneurs, business(wo)men, shopkeepers, warehouse workers, managers, stockers, check out clerks, coders, engineers, electricians, plumbers, framers, developers, builders, buyers/sellers, Unaffiliated or "totally fed up with and removed from all things political", none of us would last long without fresh water for drinking. Neither will our kids or grandkids. Do this for them.
