UPDATED: 8:55 am EDT October 10, 2006RALEIGH, N.C. -- State Court of Appeals Judge Doug McCullough said Monday he expected to be treated like any other citizen on his charges of DWI and speeding.
The judge was charged by the Highway Patrol early Saturday on U.S. 70 near Atlantic Beach with driving 47 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone. He also registered 0.12 percent on a breath alcohol test. The legal limit is 0.08 percent.
The 61-year-old judge, whose address was listed as Atlantic Beach, was scheduled to appear in court Nov. 22.
McCullough joined the court in 2001.
"I am disappointed at this situation," McCullough said in a statement. "I have dedicated my career to the rule of law and expect to proceed through the court system as would any other citizen of the state."
"Rule of Law" - that means this joker is Republican, right?

I don't know his party affiliation
But, this is why people should focus the "War on Drugs" on alcohol and not marijuana. Here is a very accomplished fella who fell pray to a few beers too many. And, with 0.08 being the legal limit, that might mean ONE beer too many.

Okay, found it.
JUDGE OF COURT OF APPEALS
PATRICIA TIMMONS-GOODSON - D
J. DOUGLAS MCCULLOUGH - R
Most of you know that Justice Timmons-Goodson is running for reelection to the Supreme Court this year.

Thanks Robert
Between the "rule of law" quote and the majority the GOP has on the Court of Appeals, I figured he was a Republican.
Justice Timmons-Goodson is a great candidate and deserves to be re-elected. The GOP is, of course, running a white male against her.
But if he hadn't been speeding
He might not have been caught. I'm not saying one beer too many is OK, because 1.2 is prolly more than one beer. I guess I just get tired of folks discounting speeding. Sigh...a different rant for a different day. Good catch, Robert.

we have Todd to thank.
If we hired a "Traffic patrol" to do nothing but give speeding tickets, I wonder how many accidents would be prevented, how many lives saved, how much $$$ gathered.

Ooooops! Good Catch Todd!
My bad....as my 13-yr-old-in-6-days would say....
