NC Republicans for Obama

There are currently fifteen of us. One I know. We had a few beers at Natty's after last October's ConvergeSouth. He's a first rate thinker and journalist, so I'm encouraged.

The recent move to the center was predictable. The FISA business smells, but I understand that politics is "the art of the possible." Obama's more responsible recent statements on Iraq may irritate the antiwar crowd, but there again we see evidence of maturity.

I'm most encouraged by signs that Obama may ask Robert Gates to stay on as DefSec. Gates has quickly shown himself quite capable of grabbing the Pentagon by the scruff of the neck and holding people accountable.

I have no intention of voting for Bush a third time. I'm sure that Obama will soon bend back to the left with the political tide, as is normal. Meanwhile, that sad old fool blunders around in the dark.

Standing above all of Obama's statements are his fantastic campaign organization. If the proof is in the pudding, it tastes mighty good, indeed.

BTW, the Charlotte Observer says there's no way Obama can win North Carolina. I've been on the losing side before. It won't kill me.
