Netroots heavyweight Americablog endorses Jim Neal

Joe Sudbay at the progressive political powerhouse Americablog has excellent political instincts. People laughed at him last year when he predicted Hillary Clinton would run into serious political trouble during the primaries - heck, I was one of them.

It's not easy to get an endorsement at this high-traffic blog; Joe and the crew over there carefully consider who they back in races, and are looking at the impact of swing states and the growth of progressive politics -- and they have endorsed Jim Neal for the U.S. Senate.

Americablog is running an ActBlue page for him, and features a video introduction to Jim for its audience:

Jim is a proud Democrat running for Senate. And, clearly, he is right on the issues. He'll run circles around Liddy Dole. We set up an ActBlue page for Jim.

The primary is May 6th (yes, the same day as the all-important Democratic primary in NC, so turnout will be huge.) Jim is not the "establishment" candidate for the primary. However, the polls we've seen show a close primary race at this point. PPP's latest survey shows the primary race is wide open -- and money will matter.

Americablog also linked back to BlueNC and to my pad - it's also tough to get a link there, so they clearly realize the importance of the local netroots community in this race.

This is great news for Neal,

but it's also great news for the netroots. Jim's campaign has been based on grassroot, netroots support, and it's wonderful to see that paying off with this attention from a national blog.

Go, Jim, Go.

If you're so inclined, let Jim know that this matters to you, and round up some of your Pocket Change for Change!

You're about 4x ahead of me

on daily visitors at the moment. I still consider you a solid "B" level blogger.

Your comment threads are certainly more active.

Americablog

I've never heard of this blog, but the only "national" blogs I regularly visit are Pam's and Cone's.

I looked it up on technorati. According to technorati is has an "Authority" of 2,035 (high is good) and a "Rank" of 674 (low is good). Compare to BlueNC's authority of 380 and rank of 12,092. I think the rankings are based on incoming links, but I don't what the rules are. NCDP has an authority of 67.

The Blend, fyi:
Authority: 1,141
Rank: 2,140

Additionally, Americablog is on the permanent blogroll of Daily Kos, so it's on a lot of progressive blogrolls.

John's blog is a regular

among gay activists, and has been on my list of blogs almost since he started.

I started on Pam's after I heard she was going to be at the Greensboro Blog Conference.

Used to frequent BartCop, but not so much these days.

Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory says he wants to change the culture in Raleigh. I guess that's why he wrote this letter to PAC lobbyists asking for their fundraising help. Change you can believe in? Riiiiiiight. Join the conversation here.
