ALL THE EVENTS ARE FREE AND THE PUBLIC IS ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND

STATE-WIDE CANDIDATES' BUS TOUR COMES TO CRAVEN AND EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA

History is being repeated. Once again the Democratic Council of State candidates are touring North Carolina together, reminiscent of the days of North Carolina icons Jim Graham, Thad Eure, and Harlan Boyles. Joining the Council of State slate are Democrats running for non-partisan judicial seats and surrogates for Kay Hagan and Beverly Perdue, Tilden Hagan and Emmett Perdue. It is believed that a surrogate for the Obama-Biden team will be on board. Judicial candidates are Jim Wynn, John Arrowood, Cheri Beasley, Kristin Ruth and Sam Ervin. Local candidates will be joining the tour in their respective districts. In Craven County Alice Underhill, Greg Muse and Craig Weber will be among the local candidates coming out to meet voters.

The tour will stop for a rally at the Craven County Democratic Headquarters at 1910 Martin Luther King Blvd. on Wednesday, October 8, between 12:30 and 2:00 p.m. The public is invited to come out and meet the candidates. Following are other scheduled stops on the tour:

Wayne Goodwin re Down East Council of State Tour

But for my having two previously scheduled debates with my opponents (yes, opponents plural: a Republican and a Libertarian) for that day, I will only be able to attend the last leg of the tour in Morehead City.

However, if my opponents fail to appear for one of these debates on October 8 - as they failed to appear this week for a TELEVISED debate in Greenville sponsored by the League of Women Voters of NC, The Greenville Reflector, the NAACP, NC Voters for Clean Elections, Common Cause, et al. - then I may be able to make one of the other Council of State Caravan stops as well.

Regardless, one or more surrogates will speak up for me and my race for NC Insurance Commissioner until I'm able to arrive.

My congratulations and great appreciation are extended to Buck Wilde of Carteret County and all the great folks in the participating counties who have joined together to resurrect the caravan!

Rock and roll, Democrats.

Your opponents failed to show up for the debate?

"The striking difference between me and my opponent is that I live in North Carolina and my husband can vote for me."
- Sen. Kay Hagan
