Top Republicans say they have no hope for Dole in North Carolina. “There’s no point in even counting the votes,” said a top McCain official.

No Hope
I always knew there was no hope for Dole. Oh, you are talking about the election. I think we should buy her a new broom. On second thought, she doesn't need a ride from the Watergate.

It's really sad to see her go out without a shred of dignity. The same thing is happening to Robin Hayes. His win at all costs campaign style is turning off the voters.

I ask you what dignity does she have? She sold out to corporate america years ago. Her husband, a former Senator and candidate for president does commercials for pepsi and viagra. How much dignity is in that?
What is next? Bush doing commercials for McDonald's?
If there was money in it she would have a corporate logo tatooed on her butt.
She is no better, and in some ways worse than the man she replaced in the Senate, Jesse Helms.
As a matter of fact, if you wanted to know what Jesse Helms in drag would look like, Liddy Dole would be a good place to start.

After winning multiple elections because the votes weren't counted they now are using that "expression" to say that Dole will lose.
This is at least an 8 out of 10 on the unintentional comedy scale

I think it's best to refrain from celebrating just yet...
I think it was a couple of weeks ago, maybe a month, something like that, when the WaPo quoted David Plouffe saying NC was no longer considered a swing state by OFA. That's obviously no longer the case, if it ever was.
Political strategists do lie, you know, if it serves their purpose.
Now is not the time to celebrate. Now is the time to get mean.

Not counting any unhatched chickens yet...
But I hope they're correct and that she loses big. As to the question of whether she'll come back to NC if she does lose, there's a greater chance of me spontaneously developing the ability to poop diamonds.
That would be awesome!
And a great hedge against the rising costs of living.
You'd have to be careful not to flood the market with freshly-pooped diamonds of course, or their value would plummet and you'd have to constantly poop 'em out just to keep your head above water...

Quite frankly, every vote possible needs to turn out to make this a reality, even with the Hagan surge. Has anyone been monitoring the counties here that have electronic voting machines? Just asking...

Conventional wisdom
It's strange to think that when I started volunteering in this race we were down in the polls and conventional wisdom regarded a Hagan victory as a long shot. Now the same CW is saying Dole is out for sure!
Conventional Wisdom rarely comes from those of us
on the ground working to get someone elected. We see what the pundits and pols sitting in Washington do not.
We were telling them about Larry Kissell months before they ever bothered to listen.
Conventional wisdom is created by a bunch of Washington pols who think more of their opinions than they should.

Hey...since this is my thread I'll hijack it...Linda...have them
check the connectors for microscopic (Ok..not quite) metal shavings. Have them check the connectors to the outside box, from the outside line into the house and from the house to your modem, etc. We had problems with internet for years and had trucks out every week until Time Warner Cable sent someone out from an outside firm who found a tiny metal shaving that was screwing everything up. (This was at the old house.) We didn't have problems after that. Sometimes it is the simplest things.

The guy that came out last time said he cleaned all the connections - and it worked for a few days. I have a feeling that one of our really outlaw neighbors is hijacking the signal, and it's screwing up the internet. Our tv signal is fine - except for a few channels. We're going to try it again tomorrow.
The problem we have is that Grace has to have access to the internet to work. So we've been relying on coming to my office when it's quiet here, or going to a friend's office when she's there, or one of the few places in town that has wi-fi but doesn't charge. It's a pain in the ass.
