Republican Commissioner to people who elected him: screw you!

Take action and protest with me. More information at the end of this post.
If you need to catch up with the whole Coy Privette story, please read one of my earlier posts about this.

Coy Privette showed a big middle finger to his Party and his constituents today.
A statement he released clearly states he will not resign as County Commissioner.

"I realize the mistake I made in my private life affects my reputation. This mistake has been dealt with, and I am ready to move forward," the Republican said in an e-mail to area reporters.
"I intend to continue to serve the citizens of Cabarrus County."

First of all I want to say that no, the "mistake" he has made (at least 6 times) has not been dealt with. Privette is under supervised probation for a year, hasn't done a minute of the 48 hours of community service yet he was sentenced to and I'm sure the "psychological treatment" he was receiving isn't over yet either.
In a statement Coy Privette handed to the press right after his sentencing in court, he says:

"I am going to be dedicating considerable time and effort to repair myself. I am already seeking professional attention to this end."

I guess that by "considerable time" he meant exactly a week???

Coy privette has lost all credibility as a politician and admits to needing psychological help, yet wants to pretend that everything is business as usual.
The arrogance Privette displayed today by just wanting to carry on as if nothing has happened is incomprehensible.

Since Mr. Privette obviously can not understand why he should resign, the people of Cabarrus County will have to tell him.
The time for action has come!

You can help in several ways:
First of all you can surf to the websites of the Charlotte Observer and the Independent Tribune and participate in the polls these two papers are running on their front page, let it be known that you want Coy Privette to resign. I know from an insider that Mr. Privette pays close attention to these online polls, especially the one from the Independent Tribune.

Second, please send an email to coyresign@gmail.com and explain to Mr. privette why you want him to resign. Please try to stay at least halfway polite. All received emails will be personally handed to Mr. Privette at the next County Commissioner meeting. By not sending your emails directly to Privette we can keep track of the number of people who are asking him to resign, since Mr. Privette himself can not be trusted to give anyone accurate numbers about how his constituents feel.

Third, show up at the next County Commissioner meeting in Concord on September 17. A protest will be organized right before the meeting (6.15 pm) so the local press can see that the citizens of Cabarrus County are not willing to pretend nothing has happened. We will then also attempt to give all the emails you've sent to Mr. Privette himself.

This is not about political revenge. I'm openly inviting any citizen from whatever political party to join me in expressing our outrage. For political strategy purposes it would be much better for me as a Democrat to leave Privette on the commission, he would be an easy target for a next election. No, this is about doing the right thing and "practicing what you preach" Mr. Privette.
I'll see you at the next County Commissioner meeting.

Beautifully done.

I could tell from the cretin's email back to me that he is definitely shifting into "f-ck you" mode. The more criticism he gets, the more repulsive and adamant he will become.

For awhile there I thought god would take care of this jerk, but it looks like We the People are going to have to take matters into our own hands. I, for one, hope he fights like a cornered dog. That will give everyone in North Carolina to see Republican family values in action - and will probably bring national media onto the scene as well. It will also be a fundraising boon for the Democratic opposition.

Plus, if he somehow prevails and the people of your county manage to keep him on, the entire county will be a laughingstock - and people will get the message that George Bush once uttered: elections have consequences.

All that said, I wish you luck and will send my letter tonight.

I don't know anybody named Coy! I swear says flipper Hayes

, the entire county will be a laughingstock - and people will get the message that George Bush once uttered: elections have consequences.

Better yet! Drop a ton of e-mails on Flipper Hayes and ask him why he is supporting a old republican close friend pervert in his distict........

" Impeach Coy and Flipper Hayes at the same time"

Wait a minute

"I am going to be dedicating considerable time and effort to repair myself. I am already seeking professional attention to this end."

'Seeking professional attention' is what got him into trouble to begin with...

:)

Oh my Lord, Todd.......hahaha

Good Work

Thank you LiberalNC! I have gone to both sites and voted, and I urge others to do the same. However, when we step back and recognize how Republican Cabarrus has become (The County Commission on which Privette serves is 5-0, Republican) I would not be upset if he digs in and holds onto his seat. Better still- run for reelection Coy, it may be our best chance in 20 years to elect a Democrat on the county board! Seriously, what are the recall options as they exist or not in Cabarrus? I say this because THAT may be the best option here. You will have to do a lot of work- getting people to sign petitions and such, however, that work will keep this issue in the forefront of the voters' mind as 2008 nears. Good Luck!

I've heard the same comment from other local Democrats...

but i think the reasoning is faulty.
Coy's seat is not up for re-election until 2010.
By then he'll be 78 and I doubt he'll run for re -election. Even if he does I'm sure republicans will kick him out in the primary.
If he resigns now Republicans will appoint someone in his place and that person will have to run for election in 2008. Then there will be 3 seats open for election instead of the planned 2.
I think our changes are better to elect at least one Democrat then.
If this scandal had broken a year ago we would have a Democrat on the County Commission right now. But it didn't and Coy got re-elected this past November.
I'd rather have him out now and have 3 seats up for election in 2008 than have to wait until 2010, knowing Coy won't ever run in an election again anyway.

Him running for re-election was jest

Is RECALL NOT an option?

LiberalNC's picture

I'm not sure..

but i'll look into it.

Thanks.....

In a county the size of Cabarrus, I am guessing that 2,500 to 5,000 signatures on a petition to recall him might put this issue before the people and who knows when THAT would happen.... primary or general election day in '08 would be GREAT!

LiberalNC's picture

no recall possible

"Unlike in some other states, North Carolina - save for 15 municipalities - has no recall measure for a public official that can be enacted by voters, said Bob Joyce, an attorney with the University of North Carolina Institute of Government."

I guess that answers that question.

Left on 49

Well, that stinks!

So you're stuck with him, and he knows it.

Robin Hayes <3's Coy Privette

Silver Lining Alert! Robin Hayes is indebted to Coy Privette and his army of volunteers. Let's see just how much Flipper likes being linked to the Pervertte.

Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.

Low Blows

Larry Craig, Bob Allen, and Mark Foley set the bar pretty low for the Gay Old Perverts. Coy probably will run on the "At Least I Haven't Yet Been Caught Trying to Blow An Undercover Cop in the Bathroom" Themed ticket.
