On the Trail: Puck Drop
After a long week of campaigning three (awesome) candidates wrap it up in Winston Salem. Roy Carter, Jim Neal and Dan Besse converged at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum to drop the puck for Ice Wars, the 9th annual charity hockey game organized to raise funds for the Special Olympics.
I took along my boys, Nathan and Alex, who were happy to help me campaign for Coach Carter (gotta raise them right!). They are good little politicians and especially had fun chucking ducks at Jim Neal.
I can't figure out how to make them smaller... so enjoy the larger than life photos that follow!

Very wonderful!
Are those kids sucking money out of an ATM?
Great pictures. Thanks for sharing them. Just imagine a government with those three good men in office. Almost brings tears to my eyes.
And at a hockey game in NC.
That's what brings tears of joy to MY eyes. I never expected it when I moved here.
The pictures are indeed wonderful - and rest assured, those kids are getting great experience. Someday soon they'll be able to say "I met a Lt. Governor, US Congressman, and US Senator." Not too shabby. Not at all. :)

Candidates on Ice
They ought to get the candidates on the ice with the kids.
Then the kids could say, "I met a Lt. Governor, US Congressman, and US Senator...
and put 'em into the boards!"
:)
Of course I'm crazy, I'm a blogger. What's your excuse?
A real risk
Those three non-professionals on ice would have been easy pickins' for any kid with skates and a stick. Or throwing those rubber ducks, for that matter. Good thing I wasn't wearing wingtips or I'd have gone down as it was.

Hockey in the South
When the Hurricanes won the cup, I had so much fun giving my Canadian in-laws a hard time about it. I got to send them a pic of one of the players serving BBQ out of the cup.

Great pics BG
smart kids, supporting Coach Carter!
No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots.
Progressive Discussions
Nice group of gentlemen.
thanks for keeping us up to date. Mind if we spread the photos?
Yes, I mind
at least on the last one ...

Is that you?
I can't tell.

Kind of looks like you, Robert.
Hard to say from that angle.

Thanks for stopping by, Sam.
I guess you came through Winston by the way that doesn't take you RIGHT BY MY HOUSE.
Oh well, you can make up for it by clicking on this picture and BECOMING A BESSE FACEBOOK SUPPORTER!

"Keep the Faith"
Huh?
What? I've been canvassing down East all day. Not getting jokes right now.

It's no joke, Sam. He's that good.
The following comment left me nonplussed
"I guess you came through Winston by the way that doesn't take you RIGHT BY MY HOUSE."
As for races I'm not involved in (all but the Jim Neal race), I'm trying to stay out unless the decision is obvious. Though it's hard to miss the fact that I've raised a lot of money for Al Franken ...

Mood check
Sam, how's it going?
1 = sucks. 10 = political nirvana.
What's your rating tonight? Just curious.
I went canvassing today, so it's pretty high
There are few work-related things I like more than canvassing. Courtesy suites at political dinners ... maybe.
Very exciting things happening with our campaign. If one of them goes well, I'll go up to a 9. Right now I'm at a solid 7.8. Somehow I always manage to get involved with the most exciting campaign each year ...

What an excellent report!
I'm very happy for you.
Keep letting us know how it's going? I'd love a blow-by-blow score. Maybe you could even graph it!
I miss you, Sam
We were two weekends in a row there for a couple of weeks: College Democrats, Jim Neal house party.
What can I say, dude? You complete me.
Then I saw that picture of you at the puck drop...and my heart broke a little:
"He was at the puck drop. He was here".
This must be how Joe Biden feels.
Warm tears in the Iowa snow...
Goodbye, Sam... goodbye.
Funny Robert.

It was supposed to be to your comment about Sam
I should stop trying to make jokes. I'm not funny at all.
