The Democrats' Fifty-State Strategy Stokes North Carolina's Grassroots by Bob Moser of The Nation
NC-11 Has convened a Council of Elders, but will there be room for Progressives at the table?
A Fantastic Progressive is running for Asheville City Council - Elaine Lite.

Hey, Mr DQ and my own BlueNC post gets a mention!!!!
I knew this Nation article Screwy links to was in the works and that it would highlight Watauga, Heath Shuler and Jerry's work, but no idea that my Margaret Johnson post here would get a hat tip! Way to go, Margaret!
And way to go, Betsy and the WOW gang. Those women of power posts were a direct result of our brainstorming at the Sea-whatever pottery place this winter.
And here's the mister:
BTW, Mark was not only NC's first hire, he was the DNC's first 50-state-strategy hire in the entire country. Thanks for that goes to Patsy Keever (and daughter, Betsy, for their foresight in hiring an "amateur") and to Jerry, of course!
Wooo hooo, WNC Democrats!!!!

Hey, but why don't y'all come up to DC? You can stay in my guest
roomcloset . . . Well, it was a concept.Hey, Anglico, I'm here at Club Fed this week (the National Conservation Training Center) with a bunch of refuge people (managers as well as "friends" groups) and thinking you would love this stuff . . . no one from Pocosin that I've met but I've been running back and forth to town and haven't met everyone.
But I did see these guys in the Potomac. They were crossing from opposite sides and didn't speak. Even upstream from the Capitol, beings from opposite sides aren't getting along too well.

What's sad is the shallow water
Not that the rivers here (Shenandoah and Potomac) aren't flat and wide but by the uncovered rocks it's easy to see that the Potomac here (just north of Shepherdstown, WV) is way, way down.
WaPo reported crop losses in 17 (of 23) Maryland counties at 40 to 70 percent.
Here, in West Virginia's panhandle, the corn is actually a decent height but so dry and spikey . . . I've read that WV has got the most severe drought of the mid-Atlantic, perhaps farther west. I've also heard the southeast is supposed to be dry for the next ten years. I know we're not the region for growing corn but this can't be good.
And I was just enjoying the cheaper cherries and cataloupes (practically the only price break compared to NC).

Holy Crap! Woo Hoo!
Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.

Bob Orr under the Dome
I've been laying off Bob Orr lately, mostly because I got to know him a bit through a series of email. But it looks like the question of his income stream is bothering at least one Republican.
From what I can tell, Mr. Orr gets income from his retirement (in other words, We the People) and from work as an attorney for various entities, including the NC Institute for Constitutional Whatever, which he left in order to run for Governor. That Institute is funded by Art Pope.
Feel free to stop by the Dome and add your two-cents.

Orr was in Pinehurst recently
playing golf for the Republican Men's club. Uncle Creepy played, too. According to reports, the money raised will go for Republican Causes. There's no mention of a defense fund. Yet.

Rep. Hackney, Uncle Creepy, and several other representatives from the central part of the state will be hosting a hearing on education in Asheboro on Thursday night.

Maybe Uncle Creepy
will be proposing a new course called "Manners 101" . . . in which he will teach students to keep their hands off others (unless invited) and not to lie.
I wish I could be there with a sign saying
"Get rid of LIARS. Joe Boylan should RESIGN."

I love the name "Uncle Creepy"

I don't know what the DSCC expects us to do to help them defeat Elizabeth Dole. I hate seeing her stupid face every I log in to BlueNC and know that there's not one Dem who has stepped up to run against her.
I'm not saying pull the ad! I'm saying dammit dammit dammit - someone run against her!
