Doubts about Dole?

Gordon Smith's picture

I saw it too

I posted it over at ScruHoo with this:

"The Gods will be at war if Obama wins, a battle royale in the firmament to determine which God will come out on top. Very exciting really, and quite likely a bigger story than the Presidential race itself. Some will say there’s not a dime’s worth of difference between YHWH and Krishna and suggest you root for Ra, but have a look at where all the megalomaniacal father gods have led humanity. Examine their records. If an Obama victory is to lead to a fight for the throne, my money is on Mars though my heart is with Aphrodite."

You go

You go Yahweh and I'll go mine.

Hahahahahahaha!

Very funny!

Doubts about Dole?

Uhhhh.....What?!!!!

nt

Are Christians not offended with this?

The guy is calling out God to do things as he thinks they should be done then threatens God with 'you don't want those other Gods to better you now do ya?' crap!

I mean I think the whole Jobe story is full of it because I just don't understand why God would have to prove anything to ANYone, anyone!

Earlier I read a comment about the bible not being the word of God from Brunette and have to agree. To me, the bible makes God a man.

God is God

For whatever reason, I wasn't able to view the video. But Muslims, Jews, and Christians have pretty much united in their monotheism for at least the past millennium.

There is one God, and His name is not to be used in vain. Someone needs to send this snake oil salesman the memo.

This Christian is not offended

But I really do not listen to folks who go there. God, Christianity and the Bible will survive whatever Obama or anyone who tries to bring harm to it there is a reason why it has lasted so long. The Bible to a tool to bring man closer to God and should not be misused though many in the faith do just that, at some point we all do, but it is our goal to work through it.

I have found that most not believers do not even understand how this works but I have also found many believers do not either. I hope this answers your questions but if not I can go into more detail if you wish.

Likely non-believers don't actually

care to understand how that works, since they don't believe. That would be my guess.

North Carolina. Turning the South Blue!

I can't say as to if they care

but I take the time to read some threads on KOS whenever some atheist goes on some rant about Christians or anyone who believes, it happens here to but not as much and often not as vile as over there, but in both places I see the frustations in many atheist as to why they have trouble being accepted in the political community. It they took the time to make an effort to understand then maybe these barriers would ease, but instead many go on rants to see how many ways they can discredit believers and that just leads to further divide. Of course one could say that believers could do the same, but since the numbers heavily favor believer from a democratic standpoint the burden falls on the nonbelievers.

You know their minds that well Moderate?

Not sure which camp I belong in, I believe in a higher power but I don't see the bible as the "Word of God". Whenever I go on a "rant" it's not to see how many ways I can discredit believers, or devide people, I do it because I am frustrated with their hypocrisy.

there are two arguments

The first is one of faith and this may not be the right place to go there. But some adivce read the Bible with an open mind and you may find answers you did not know were there.

The second is a political argument though and it is these rants do not serve you well. I understand how you can be frustrated with how you feel, but a calmer tone will take you along way futher.

Mod, I think that you are being pretty condescending

in your remark. To assume that I have not read the bible is pretty patronizing too.

sorry did not mean to be

But the Bible is a long book, as much as I have studied it their are still parts of it I have not read. And even still parts of it I have read many times and I still get a new point of view.

ooops

double post

From a strictly sociological standpoint,

I understand how you can be frustrated with how you feel, but a calmer tone will take you along way futher.

the status of a non-believer/athiest/agnostic and that of a person who "attends church" are often noticeably different. It's reflected in school, in the neighborhood, at work, etc. America might not shun non-believers like other cultures do, but the vague mistrust is there. After a while, that gets really old.

The last time you took the time to understand their

discourse was when Mod? Recently, a few years ago, never?

I find both arguements simply silly. Rants from both sides are not helpful or interesting. Rants from either side make that side look, well, uninformed and somewhat ignorant. Because...

They are usually uninformed and ignorant of each others dogma. Therefore, as I stated above, likely they don't care.

See what I mean?

Wait.....

Did you just say "God, Christianity and the Bible will survive whatever Obama or anyone who tries to bring harm to it"?

"You could say, 'Look, is this guy, Laden, really the bad guy that's depicted?' Most of us have never heard of him before." John McCain, following Clinton's strikes on al Qaeda camps

I was using Obama

because he is being used as an example of being one who could destroy God, Chistianity, the Bible, and I am saying no he can not all of these things are far bigger than Obama. This is not a statment saying that I believe that is his intent I personally do not believe it is, but simply using it as to how to address somone who does.

Brunette's picture

Surely you didn't mean that Obama is anti-Christian?

Did I misread your intent there? This post seems to say that you think that "Obama or anyone" would try to bring harm to Christianity or the Bible.

I think Obama has made pretty clear that he is a practicing Christian.

I'm not a believer but I'm certainly a respecter of the Christian faith. While I do not believe that the Bible is the Divine Word, I certainly respect it, too.

Not sure exactly what you're saying when you say that "most non-believers do not even understand how this works," but I think I actually do understand the concept of faith, which, unless I am mistaken is how it "works."

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing

Answer

"Did I misread your intent there?" perhaps I am not implying Obama is trying to do this just that he is unable to it if he were so inclined.

It is hard if not impossible to understand the faith if you do not believe. Yes a non believer can have morals, and having morals are part of the faith, but it goes well beyond that, following this faith has lead me on wonderful journey and my life would be incomplete without it. It is so wonderful you wish everyone could have it. That is kind of a start to it, but this is not a religious thread so I am going keep it at that.
