McHenry took DC resident tax deduction while voting in NC

We told you two weeks ago that our dear Congressman Pat McHenry owned a home with another man. Did you know that co-ownership of property with the same sex can trigger a Don't Ask Don't Tell investigation?

We have also uncovered that before serving in Congress Pat took a DC resident-only tax reduction on that home while, at the same time, voting in North Carolina.

I've heard federal employees often try to keep their home state residency to avoid DC's high income taxes.

Didn't tax evasion bring down Capone?

Here's the scoop at Page One Q and Mike Roger's comments at BlogActive. Enjoy.

That's what I've been telling you.

Don't worry about the gay stuff - I don't care who you screw, I care who you screw over. If a US Congressman is cheating on his taxes, he's screwing over you and me.

Go, DQ, Go.

I agree

There are a few bloggers (not you or DQ) who get frighteningly homophobic when someone brings up those allegations about McHenry. I don't like it one bit when that stuff pops up here because it makes all of us look bad while impugning our credibility.

Also, the media has shown that, like mature adults should, they don't really care about private sex lives as long as no crime is involved. We've been through this before in the Piedmont; Myrick did some things that were not socially acceptable (for 1980s-Early '90s Charlotte), and it didn't stop her from winning the Mayor's race or the Congressional seat. Once we get as sex-obsessed as Larry Craig, the Republicans have already won.

It constantly amazes me what this guy thinks

he can get away with.

I just keep following the money. And the people he surrounds himself that have problems with ummm, well . . . the law.

I've drafted several posts on his various cohorts and am just waiting for call backs and a few details to iron themselves out. Many of his high level staffers or close colleagues seem to have legal issues of one sort or another. It's not like any one thing couldn't be explained away as a mistake or misunderstanding. But when you add them up and see the totality of the picture .. . well, it's clear none of them think too much of anything we would refer to as rules.

It's OK if you're a Replicant.

They're getting so close to fixing

his selfservative li'l red wagon. What's going to happen first, y'think? He will be outed, taken down for a long pattern and habit of criminal activity, busted in a tearoom, or he'll simply panic like a typical repig and do something spectacularly stupid? Either way, I view McHenry as a self-correcting problem. It's so much more fun to watch Karma and DQ work their magic.

I'm popping corn anyway. I'm going to love the show, however the plotline plays out.

His excuses will be limited

when he leaves office. My guess is he'll have to go into rehab, he won't be able to say he needs to spend more time with the family...
