Perdue attacks Moore for raising money from those investing in pension fund

The N&O ran a story today about how Bev Perdue's campaign sent out an email to its list alerting folks to the fact that Moore has raised money from those that do business with our pension plan. I'd personally be interested in knowing if those contributions came before or after Moore decided to include the respective businesses in the business of North Carolina before jumping to any conclusions, but even still, politicians raise more money from their friends than their enemies (sometimes in bathrooms and sometimes not).

Politics as usual

Everything Moore has done has been transparent and legal. NC's pension fund is also one of only two or three in the nation where the assets will meet all future obligations/payouts. It is one of the highest rated funds in the nation.

He's taking legal political contributions and there's no quid pro quo involved.(At least not that has been found or even alleged.) If it weren't transparent it would be a problem, but not ony are his contributions available for public review so is the performance of the pension fund.

This is being driven by corporate media/Republicans and the Perdue campaign.

Not much different than the Moore campaign allegedly being behind the spread of Perdue's apparent condoning of a torturous death as part of state-sponsored killings. Perdue herself is responsible for the spread of the story of her embellished past as a coal minor's daughter. She keeps pushing that meme and got called on it.

Politics as usual. I have to admit though - the more this story gets out and the longer it goes on without anyone finding any rule or law that Richard Moore has broken, the more I like the guy. He's done a stellar job managing the pension fund - or hiring the investment firms that manage the fund. Our state employees should be pleased that their retirement funds are secure.

From what I can tell

she didn't attack anyone. Pointing out a story to her supporters that is all over the mainstream media hardly qualifies as an attack.

This is exactly the kind of BS I've been fearing with this primary.

I agree with

SD that I have a great amount of respect for what he has done in terms of managing the state. But this type of bs makes me less inclined to support him.

So far my impression of the Moore campaign is that he has a bunch of sleaze balls running it. Thankfully its early enough to stop running around attacking and accusing others of attacking when they arent. I hate this type of politics, and its one of the main reasons why I have lost so much respect for people like Carville.

I hope this bull crap stops and stops soon.

Speaking of Dole

Perdue and Moore, I would expect the next public policy poll to be released monday.

And Helms begat Reagan...

Arguably, Ronald Reagan's Helms enabled win in the 1976 NC primary was all the encouragement he needed to try again in 1980, setting the stage for the Reagan Revolution and synergistic escapades like this one...

TrueMeckDem on Myers Park Pat

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
