PPP: Edwards would be strongest candidate in NC

Last week PPP tested nine potential general election matchups for President in North Carolina. John Edwards was the only candidate to go 3 for 3.

Edwards 48 Giuliani 43
Edwards 50 Huckabee 43
Edwards 52 Romney 40

Unfortunately Clinton and Obama didn't do so hot. You can see the full results here.

We also did the US Senate matchups, which you can see here.

The good news is that Elizabeth Dole's approval remains below 50%, although she does cross that mark in potential matches against Kay Hagan and Jim Neal. But it's early and I'm sure once the voters get to know our candidates better those numbers will improve.
