Memo from a longtime N&O reader:
First, let me just say that Bill Kristol is an idiot who makes stuff up.
Second, could you add a regular columnist to the op-ed page who is not a member of the nearly all-male glee club from the NYT and WaPo? There are a number of good writers out there, some of whom happen to be actual women.
Third, David Broder and Mo Dowd do not count as liberal balance.
You're playing two kinds of music here — country and western. So, you've got far right, right and center-right views covered. Bravo. Where's the rest of us?
For you BlueNCers: Can we keep a tally somehow/someway of the op-ed pages from around the state this election season. It's hard to tell online what columns are getting play out there.

This is exactly why I canceled my N&O subscription
... along with their wishy-washy editorials. And now with the Dome's full tilt to the right, I've moved to Binker, Morrill, and Radio Girl almost exclusively.
I'm with you James
at least 2/3 of the way. I don't know Morrill. But Radio Girl is my first stop and Binker is my second. I don't always agree with Binker's take on things, but I think he's fair, and he writes about my congressional district. How about a link to Morrill?
Can we, instead, start talking about "for the good of North Carolina?" --Leslie H.

Op-Eds, Newspapers and NPR?
Is it just me or has NPR been lovin' up on McCain and dissing Obama a little too overtly lately? Please tell me it's just me.
Please tell me I'm just catching it on bad days, at bad times. If NPR starts lurching with this lopsided Right-sided gait that other traditional news sources have been sporting for the last twenty years ... well, I don't know what I'm going to do. :(

Obama is now withstanding the front runner's slings and arrows. I think he can take it. He looks and sounds presidential when he speaks. McCain sounds like a shifty old man who won't even look straight in to the camera.

The Dome has a couple of posts now about McCain's new
ad that is running in NC. Any sense of balance and fair play seem to be completely absent from the coverage there. and I told'em so.
I think it was on NPR, but I encountered an article or broadcast somewhere that commented on the fact that the Middle is the new Left. That basically the national discourse concerns how far Right do we want to go.
Frickin' media, Right wing propagandists and gutless, ineffective, "let's play nice" Democrats.

The N&O started sliding to the right years ago and is only gaining momentum. From the editorial pages to the political coverage to the blogs, it's all the same. And it would be amusing if it weren't so sad. Pretty soon their entire readership will be, well, people who can't read.
