REDSURGENCE
LiberalNC pointed us to a new Republican community blog that will launch in about five days. They are calling the new blog REDSURGENCE. Interesting name choice. It sounds more like a communist plot or a disease. I wonder if the content will be as unfortunate as the name choice.

I would just hate for you to not bring us the same info. The NO OLF movement is something that should cross political and party lines -- because the scope of it is just so huge. There's something in the idea of an OLF for everyone to hate. :)

Ms. Betsy...I'm already impressed...as I guess I should be. Now, we need viewers...participants. I'm sure when you started BlueNC you didn't have just gobs of people registering/posting. It takes a while via word-of-mouth and emails and so forth to get it built up.
Again...I'm impressed. Nope, it's not yet BlueNC, but it appears to have a good start.

I doubt this new republican blog site will be any serious competition for BlueNC...at least not for a while. We repubs are still licking our wounds and trying to figure out our best path. Most are pretty bitter and confused right now and the party is in disarray.
Maybe my buddy scharrison can come to the conversation on this site now and then as I do here. :) It might liven it up as I'm thinkin' there'll be a lot of "woe is me" and "gloom, despair, agony on me" kinda stuff going on.

You should have listen to Candiate Ron Paul. He had it right about your former party. But like most Republicans, You decided to have some religious nutcase women from Alaska with all kind of family issues as your number 2 and a 72 year old white guy who had no idea what planet he was on......You should consider changing parties like Sara Palin and become a member of the Conservative party of Albania........

Since...uh...well....this is a site mainly for Democrats/Progressives/Liberals and that one isn't.
It will be interesting to see what direction they go, though. What you typically find in a new blog is a more strident tone. BlueNC has its moments, but we have evolved into a more informational style. If the blog is always in attack mode, it will get tiring for the readers who are looking for information. I'll just say BlueNC has been there and done that. You weren't here for those days. We sure could get ugly.

Actually, I'll be surprised if it makes it at all. Starting a blog for republicans right now sorta seems like someone opening up a real estate business right now...know what I mean? But, I could be wrong...
I'll participate, but if it's just really hate filled...I'm not very thick skinned...I'll probably get pissed and go away.

I'm thinking about the "misery loves company" saying. Starting now gives them time to get established well ahead of the active campaigning for 2010, and get past the pain of 2008.
It will certainly be interesting to see what transpires.

Don't give up on them too quickly. Maybe you could help set the tone. It will be natural for there to be a lot of ranting. That's what happens when things don't go your way or when you are in disagreement with the powers that be. I just don't think as many Republicans use blogs for information and if anything that will be why it fails to grow....there simply won't be enough readers.

That depends on their direction.
I'd just absolutely LOVE to be one of the people that could "set the tone" on a republican-leaning blog. But, remember this.....I'm pro-gay rights (with exceptions), pro-choice and truly believe that our country has violated constitutional provisions regarding church & state issues. That kinda presentation by me on such a blog probably won't be popular. But...it sure should. In my considered opinion, the majority of republicans believe as I do. It's the minority fundamentalist christian element within the party that has formed our platform and it has gone on far too long. We must "moderate".
I'm not going to go on a rant on this. But, I probably would on a republican blog-site and no doubt get myself in trouble for "double-speak" and such. I can see it now: "Smitty, you can't be a good republican and believe as you do on these issues".
And guess what? Smitty gets pissed and says something he shouldn't. Understand?
