Reminder: Unaffiliateds Can Vote in NC's May 6 Primary
Most folks on BlueNC are probably already aware, but I just wanted to put this out there. Also, it helps to have the link handy when people ask.

"Note that a person must be registered with a political party in order to participate in its party's primary unless the party has opened its primary to unaffiliated voters. The following parties have opened their primaries to unaffiliated voters: Democratic, Libertarian, and Republican. Note that on the day of any primary election, an unaffiliated voter may choose to participate in only one party's primary."
So yes, those of us who are registered as "unaffiliated" can vote in the May 6th primary; we just have to choose which ballot we want -- Democratic or Republican -- we can't vote in both.

And WRAL reports that because of the close race, we may actually see some action in the form of candidate visits and whatnot, as our primary may be relevant to the Presidential race for the first time in over two decades.

"A North Carolina resident who is qualified to vote but who misses the 25-day deadline for voter registration may register and vote at a One-Stop Site during the One-Stop Absentee Voting period. The One-Stop Voting period extends from 19 to 3 days before Election Day.
The process is sometimes referred to as 'Same-Day Registration,' but it is important to recognize that it is not permitted on Election Day itself."
