Republican State Representative Calls Coble Ineffective

It seems that in the rush of the holidaze, I missed this little gem back in December at The Inside Scoop. NC-Rep Cary Allred (R-Alamance), has been trying to contact his US Congressman to get something taken care of for five years. On Dec. 3, at the Liberty town parade, Allred asked Rep. John Blust, who had been riding with our congressman, Howard Coble, "Would you please tell that a**hole to call me?" Apparently Coble finally got the message.

What was it that Allred has been concerned about for 5 years? Apparently there is a section of IRS code that favors federal politicians, but not state and local pols. What it boils down to is that local and state politicians pay a lot more on the interest their campaign funds earn than their federal counter parts do. It's not a fair law, and Allred says he's been asking Coble to do something about this for five years. But

"All he does is go around and pat people on the back and tell jokes and eat barbeque," Allred said. Ah - welcome to our world, Rep. Allred. Frustrating isn't it? You might want to consider supporting a different candidate for Congress this year...

Coble's response was that he didn't sit on the Ways and Means committee, and he "wasn't going to introduce a bill that goes nowhere".

As for his differences with Allred, Coble had this to say:

"He's been badmouthing me a lot, and that comes with the job," Coble said. "I'm not overly concerned with it, and I don't dislike him. If he dislikes me that's his problem." So much for those famous constituent services, eh?

In a letter to the News and Record on Jan 8, Allred said:

Rep. Coble has told me his inability to have this issue addressed by Congress essentially means that he is not effective, and I would agree with that.

If he cannot convince the chairman of the Ways and Means Committee that this is not a fair law, then he is not effective.

I re-emphasize, this is not a personality issue. I'm not running against him, but the little people and the little businesses deserve more aggressive representation.

Indeed. Indeed we do. When even his own party-mates see how ineffective Howard Coble is, you know it's time for him to go. You can help make a difference in NC-06 by contributing today to Jay Ovitorre's campaign for Congress. Let's send Howard home for good, and send Jay to Washington. I'm betting he'd have the cajones to introduce a bill that would benefit his constituents, even Republican State Representatives.

This is awesome

I love it. Coble is ineffective and it looks like the word will start getting out.

Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.

And Helms begat Reagan...

Arguably, Ronald Reagan's Helms enabled win in the 1976 NC primary was all the encouragement he needed to try again in 1980, setting the stage for the Reagan Revolution and synergistic escapades like this one...

TrueMeckDem on Myers Park Pat

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
