Republican War on the Poor Endures
43 Senate Republicans, including the extraordinarily weak Elizabeth Dole, voted against cloture - effectively filibustering the proposed minimum wage hike that sailed through the House two weeks ago. Senate Republicans want to attach tax cuts to the rise in minimum wage. However, "any tax breaks in the bill would put the Senate on a collision course with the House, which is required by the Constitution to initiate tax measures." In otherwords, Senate Republicans are asking for a tax cut that they are Constitutionally not allowed to initiate.
Here are the five GOP Senators voting with Democrats for the rise in the minimum wage: Coleman, Collins, Warner, Snowe and Specter.
Contact your Republican Senator today to ask why they've declared war on the poor and the Constitution. Here are our Senators.

Action! Action! Action!
We are just full of action today.
The GOP Senators are just playing games. They will do this every time to try to send legislation back to the House that will then require a vote against what the Dems wanted in the first place.
The Republicans don't care about the working poor and they really don't care about the businesses that reap the benefits from their game. They just want to plot and maneuver because they are pissy little losers.
Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.
Nuclear Option
Just a few months ago, Frist would have been screaming his head off about changing the Senate rules to disallow 'filibusters'.
Democrats, caring about the whole democracy and Constitution thing, will have to outmaneuver and outpolitic the Hate-the-Poor Republicans.
Our public pressure on the Republicans is the only thing that will end their obstruction of a bill supported by a vast majority of Americans.
i gotta say
I love the renewed attention on Elizabeth Dole of late. I hope we can keep the pressure on. If we do what needs to be done we can turn this state blue on the national maps instead of red.
