Republicans, failed us on 9/11, failed us in Afghanistan, failed us in Iraq, vowing to torture in the future

Let's not mince words here. Democrats left office saying that we needed to worry about terrorism, that we needed to worry about Osama bin Laden. The Republicans dropped the ball, 9/11 happened on their watch, and they have done nothing to make our country more safe. Port security, nada. Food security, nada. Airline security, what a joke. We are no more safe today than we were on 9/10/2001. Remember that Osama waited over six years between attacks on U.S. soil - that means we haven't averted ANYTHING. The next attack should be coming anytime now, six years after 9/11/2001. And, we are no more safe. But, don't worry, even though they can't protect us, they are more than willing to stoop to the level of our enemies and torture those who MIGHT be responsible. In fact, they embrace torture.

The applause for the Stormin' Mormon's punch line

was sickening.

We are a divided nation, pure and simple. Thank you King George.

The applause

was even more sickening. I think that all we have to do to win the election in 2008 is keep showing these clips. I don't want to be led by these nutjobs.

Is that the Repulican's version of a laugh track

I keep hearing punctuating the orators remarks? Is the audience so devoid of anything hopeful to applaud that they wait for the biggest ugly backwards idea to clap?

you wouldn't put it past the Republicans

to have an applause sign would you?

But still

Republicans have all the answers to terrorism. I really think when these candidates come forward to the entire populace of the American people, these GWB Rove-ian talking points will fall on deaf ears.

This is all just for the circus that is the Moral Majority.

Our children need to know that some people fought back, when others collaborated.

Caricatures.

That's what the Washington Journal's republican callers where saying about the debaters, they seemed like cartoons of real people. I haven't watched the whole debate yet but all the phone lines, even the callers on the democrat's line liked only Ron Paul.

A fictional but plausible scenario . . .

is that one of these candidates asks Romney why they aren't welcome in his temple. That sort of religious elitism seems to me to be profoundly off-putting. I'm probably being ignorant, but I wouldn't mind Romney educating us a little on what his religion is about.

And was it just me, or did Romney just say that he doesn't want people accused of crimes to have legal representation? Can you say that?

Jerimee, here's a link on Mormons you might find interesting

My son lived in Salt Lake City for a while and said that if you weren't Mormon, you weren't welcomed there. He didn't live there very long and still has a strong dislike of Mormons. Wonder how those Katrina victims evacuated there are doing?

Anyway, the link is to the Mountain Meadows Massacre

No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots.

Bill Clinton's speech to the DNC

The Dark Side Chronicles

Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory says he wants to change the culture in Raleigh. I guess that's why he wrote this letter to PAC lobbyists asking for their fundraising help. Change you can believe in? Riiiiiiight. Join the conversation here.
