Republican's Would Be Well Represented

I would love to see Sam Brownback nominated by Republicans. He may be the only candidate that could turn off enough of the electoral middle to allow Hillary to be elected - if she is nominated. While Hillary would be a unifying figure for the fractured right, Brownback would send many former "Reagan Dems" back to the fold. Other than Mitch McConnell, I can think of no more distateful repub Senator now that Santorum, Allen, and Helms are gone. Am I missing anyone?

John, I don't know much about Brownback

but I know lots about Senator Clinton. If she gets the nomination, I believe the Democratic Party will implode. This has nothing to do with being a woman...it's about who she is. She will not take the White House. I do not know a single progressive Democrat over the age of 50...and there are lots of us...who can forget all the scandals and dishonesty in the Clinton Adminisration directly linked to Hillary Clinton. To get their/our vote Clinton would have to be running against...well, a giant flesh eating lizard or something.

I think

I agree with both of you. From what I have seen Brownback is a theocrats wet dream mixed in with the least savory aspects of Goldwater.

Stan...

There are a bunch of us who haven't quite reached 50 yet who feel the same way! Her record in the Senate is not as progressive as I would like to see, either.

I am a Democrat, and chances are, I will be supporting the nominee. However, I think that Hillary would be a distastrous nominee, and the consequences for us in NC would be horrendous.
