I love Google searching our site
I wondered where my search box went. How will I find it from now on? I don't see a ink to this on the sidebars. I'm probably missing it.
Oh...and get some sleep!

If it was a snake, it would have..., um, fallen on you. And then bit you.

I need it to be MORE obvious than just SEARCH. :)

I voted for Trica-for the right reasons
Recent comments on here sound quite sour regarding Rep. Cotham and the fact she decided to run. And I'm surprised at you, Southern Dem. I've always known you to be open minded-and not usually given to pessimistic pouting.
Hey, I chose to become involved in politics this season by volunteering and organizing my precinct. I'd never been 'in politics' before, but since I'm now the chair of that precinct, you sure could say I'll benefit from it. So what?
As I was coached: you gotta start somewhere! Rep. Cotham began... where she began.
Here's my brief rundown of March events political: I invited candidates to my precinct meeting; held after 'the rush'. Mr. Sher's response was-by all accounts notified-inappropriate and for HIS protection, no elaboration is forthcoming. Mr. Bonepart was contacted, said he'd stop by, but didn't show. Tricia was invited and showed up. She then answered mine and my darned tough (read: knowledgable) precinct peeps' questions quite well. Later, at the forum, Mr. Sher decided to give out his complete compendium of a resume-more info than I'll ever care to assimilate. Too much-too late. And I'd personally prefer to see a candidate in person than receive a bloody compendium.
My officers and I attended the forum, took careful notes and talked them over immediately after. We weighed everything carefully and repeatedly, and chose the person we wanted to represent us.
Point being-there was no party 'poof you're elected' stuff that night. I was there and; don't recall any of the posters here attending. I, my friends and my neighbors were in favor of electing Tricia and acted upon it. Period.
And will someone please find another chew toy to replace the 'she wasn't living in the district'? Much as some would love it to be one--according to the MCDP rules and regs its a NON-issue.

Hadit, I'm concerned that your comment will be lost here
You are, after all, posting on the search interface page. Is there something in particular you're responding to?
Thoughs on design, etc ...
1) Develop a sound information architecture rationalizing the use of tags, and use it to design them into the baseline page framework.
Tags, whatever their origin, are so widely used now that they should be treated as indispensable.
You want data to that effect, let me know.
2) Put the NC Progress Blog search on an NC Progressive Blog aggregation page.
Take it off of all of the other NC Blue site pages.
Having two search windows is somewhat more than confusing.
It tends to communicate a touch of multiple personality disorder. Republicans love it.
3) As a personal favor, which of course you don't owe me, please explain what an "NC Progressive Blog" is, how that anointing is made and who the polyblog elders are who make it.
Perhaps if I understood well enough to have some confidence in the selection process I'd arrange the blog aggregation page mentioned above, assuming of course you have a domain name lying around that we can apply to it.
4) Thanks for not rushing to Raleigh to smash me in the chops for my tactlessly expressed recommendations.
5) Happy New Year!
>>>
Thanks for the insights and ideas.
Very good suggestions.
I have no idea what an "NC Progressive Blog" is . . . but I suppose we should figure that one out!
Do good. Be nice. Have fun.
Polyblog elders
sounds like something you would catch in a pond and keep in a jar to watch them turn in to frogs or something. :)
Those are great suggestions.

Icing on the cake
Obama's victory was nothing short of remarkable, and I was glad to have spent many hours volunteering for him in Durham County. Still, it may be overstating to call NC a "blue" or even a "toss-up" state just yet.
His NC victory has to be considered in the context of the national result. Obama carried the country by 6.7 points in order to carry NC by less than half a point. If the national election had been close to even, Obama would likely have been 6-8 points behind in NC. To accurately be called a "blue" or "toss up" state, the Democratic vote in that state should be close to or exceed the national Democratic vote.
Obama's national vote was 52.7%. He carried 28 states, the District of Columbia, plus Nebraska's 2nd congressional district for 365 electoral votes. The states that pushed him over the 270 vote threshold were precisely the 23 states and DC where Obama's vote was at or above his national average. In the remaining five states that included NC, Obama ran below his national average.
The conclusion might be that NC helped put icing on the cake, but other states baked the cake. Nonetheless, a remarkable achievement.
