Chapel Hill man to run against Dole
By Kirk Ross
Staff WriterJim Neal, a key Democratic Party fundraiser, is on the verge of announcing a run for U.S. Senate, sources close to Neal say.
Neal, a native of Greensboro who now lives in Chapel Hill, will head to Asheville this weekend for the Vance-Aycock Dinner, a traditional gathering of Democratic Party movers and shakers and a place where potential candidates often test the waters. He is expected to file official paperwork as early as this week.
Neal was a top fundraiser for the John Kerry and John Edwards ticket in 2004 and a major supporter of Gen. Wesley Clark’s bid for the Democratic nomination that year.

Well, I'm really glad *someone*
is willing to run.
But I've never heard of this guy. He doesn't seem to have much of a record. Are we really at the "it's a warm body and it's breathing", stage?

Better than the.....
"Quick get him elected while the body's still warm" stage
Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.
Well
Not a lot of people had heard of John Edwards when he first announced for Senate, either.
very good point.

Well,
I had, because besides being from Moore Co, my cousin is married to his former law partner, David Kirby. (Actually, she's my mother's cousin's daughter, so I don't know how that ranks, cousin-wise. but I had heard of him before y'all.) And I didn't even live in NC then.
And it's true, I walk on water and can fly.

I thought I did
I went to UNC with a guy named John Edwards, but he was a hard-core conservative. When I found out the "John Edwards" running for Senate was a Dem, I knew it wasn't the same guy.
Who is this David Kirby?
Isn't he a big Edwards peep? Why doesn't he run for something?
News of the 10th district: See Pat Go Bye Bye,
They were law partners.
He says he is committed to helping Edwards win the White House.
The law firm is here.

And the person who people had heard of in that race
would have been a better senator. And his name was Martin, too ;-)
1 Thessalonians 5:21: But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good.
But wait! One Replicant wants Dole as VEEP!
Hahahahahahaha.
And this is what passes for glowing praise . . .
Hilarious!
>chuckle<
If she's running for veep, can she run simultaneously for the Senate?

As we like to call it, "do
As we like to call it, "do the Lieberman"
Liddy Dole supporters want her to become a transgender Veep
The Vice-Presidential candidate typically takes on the role of hatchet-man (or woman). This could be hard for Dole since she has kind of a syrupy persona, but she could attack Hillary in a way a male candidate couldn’t.* Clarence Santa Clause
No doubt the water in Salibury is affecting this idiot republican like the comment from above. He most likely is a viewer of "Smackdown" since he wants Dole to be a man in the ring with Hillary......I am sending a check for a million dollars to Dole so she can start her transgender medical operation as the male who is on top of Presidental Republican politics.
On one hand
He sounds like a candidate with enough money to take her out. On the other hand, who is he?
"Keep the Faith"
I'm holding out for Major Martin
This is all getting really interesting, but from where I sit, the go-to guy is still Grier Martin. As I've said until even I'm tired of it . . . this election is going to be first and foremost about national security. No Democratic candidate can beat Grier on that issue.
Will he run? We'll find out soon. I've heard that he has to report to Army Reserve training in the next couple of weeks - and that he may be there for as long as a month. If that's true, he'll have to announce one way or the other before he ships out.
A publicist's dream come true.
He may really want to run,
He may really want to run, but we are way, way past time, so this should be "anyone announce so we can start fundraising" time. I mean, it's waaay past Labor Day, what event are potential candidates waiting for to happen before they decide to run? Just makes us look bad that we can't field a candidate.
But I look forward to this guy announcing and starting the mission of getting a Dem in the Senate seat who will truly represent our state.
No worries.
There's plenty time. Liddy's digging the hole around her deeper with every passing day.
Who-ever is seriously considering a run against Dole will need..
aggressive and energetic support and encouragement.
The elctricity generated by the Party around this individual must be great enough to catch the eye of America.....
This person must be made the "great hope" of the Democrats in North Carolina and must command the attention of us all where-ever and whenever he, or she makes the slightest move.
The energy generated around this person will dictate the potential and perception of others everywhere else in the country which will have a great effect on the money which will be required.
This candidate must must be dynamic and come out of nowhere to champion the Democratic cause as a US Senator in Washington DC.
