McMahan & NCGOP Party Disloyalty
Submitted by Lance on Mon, 04/10/2006 - 12:40am
NCRumors is trying to get to the bottom of the story about Ed McMahan and allegations of "party disloyalty." The article includes reference to those emails between Clary and Pope, and it provides the NCGOP's definition of party disloyalty (it's bad) and its possible consequences (they're bad). BlueNC gets mention as "a blog produced by Democrat party faithful."
It's late and I'd rather go to bed than chase the story farther tonight, but I have a feeling that it won't be disappearing any time soon.
Who is she talking to?
Submitted by Lance on Sun, 04/02/2006 - 1:09pmThere are a couple of approaches a partisan political blogger can take to a post. There is "Inform and Advance" (as in "inform the reader; advance the discussion") and there's "Inflame and Annoy" (as in "inflame the choir; annoy the rest"). Most bloggers employ a bit of both—"inform and advance" alone doesn't make for very interesting reading, and "inflame and annoy" on its own tends to come off as psychotic ravings. I wanted to point out a post at one of the extremes. I'll leave it to you to figure out which extreme, but I'll give you a hint: I read it at NC Rumors.
The Meekins Chronicles: Racism is Right
Submitted by Lance on Mon, 01/30/2006 - 4:22pmShorter Frederick Meekins: poor Muslims ought to shut up and eat pork.
This guy would be funny if he weren't so hateful. When a group described as part of the "extreme right" offers pork soup to the poor, there's a fairly good chance that the ingredients were chosen to exclude Muslims. (The "charity" calls it "identity soup;" the group's leader describes its mission as the defense of the "rights of the little whites.") That's pretty much the definition of racism. And I don't see anything wrong with police using an existing permitting structure to put an end to race baiting. (This is all in France, by the way.)

North Carolina Governor
Submitted by John Greene on Sun, 01/15/2006 - 8:07pmI think our next Governor will be predicted by the influences of Former Gov. Hunt. His endorsement will have a huge influence on voters. The people trust Jim Hunt and he did an outstanding job while in office. As noted in November 27, 2005 News & Observer article "Ex-governor still a force" found here: http://tinyurl.com/bwvzn
Unhinged Indeed!
Submitted by Lance on Sat, 11/12/2005 - 11:12pmAfter James's rant I was well reminded of why we must do better in 2006 and 2008, but I also needed something to break the tension. I found the comic relief I needed in a reactionary conservative essay on the topic of elementary school classroom supplies that, in fewer than 1,000 words, invokes Al Gore, Terri Schiavo, the Supreme Court's decision in Kelo v. New London, bolshevism, and brainwashing. The author manages to slip some advocacy of violence against teachers in there as well.
