Lessons Unlearned: Rereading Norman Spinrad's THE IRON DREAM
by Pamela Troy Apr 14th 2008, 06:12 PM“I see you’re a fellow I can talk plainly to, Jaggar,” Waffing said in a deep, bluff voice. “A man much like myself. I like what you’re doing. As I’ve said many times myself, the only way to treat enemies of genetic purity is to smash their skulls.”
From the Iron Dream, by Norman SpinradLinda Vester: You say you'd rather not talk to liberals at all?;
Ann Coulter: I think a baseball bat is the most effective way these days.

Everybody on TV is talking about the showdown between Elizabeth Edwards and Ann Coulter on MSNBC last night. I think Elizabeth did a great job while showing that you can have class and still participate in the political process. For years, I have been waiting for someone to tell Ann Coulter that what she does is not called for or journalistic. Hopefully, the message will get across this time.
Did anyone post this yet? Coulter pwnd with grace.

The fossilized blog page of North Carolina’s 9th District Congresswoman Sue Myrick is becoming a little treasure trove of information and a monument to Republican hypocrisy the longer it stays up. As I wrote in Sue Myrick’s Shrine to Ann Coulter, Sue Myrick’s blog started in March 2004 with a total of six entries with the 5th entry about an Ann Coulter fundraiser in April 2005.
The last entry on Myrick’s blog was an April 17, 2005 post about another fundraiser with country music singer Sara Evans:
Sue Myrick is offering an exclusive, one-time event to meet country music star Sara Evans backstage at the Alan Jackson - Sara Evans concert May 5th
:::
Tickets to this very special event include a VIP backstage pass to meet and have your photo taken with Sara Evans, and a great seat to watch country music legend Alan Jackson live in concert.
The plot thickens below the fold....
Sue Myrick's Shrine to Ann Coulter
Submitted by gregflynn on Sat, 03/10/2007 - 7:50pm.Probably not many people know that Sue Myrick has a blog, maybe because it hasn't been updated since 2005. The blog was started in March 2004 and has a total of 6 entries. It is linked directly from the website for Sue Myrick for Congress 2008
The 5th entry in February 2005, but still on the front page, reads:
Ann Coulter

sic
Ann is without peer. Personally Sue, I love the company you keep!
reads one of the comments to the post which remains bronzed on Myrick's blog front page until now, as seen below the fold:
The Sanford Herald Drops Coulter
Submitted by twain on Sat, 03/10/2007 - 12:39pm.My little hometown paper has become one in a growing number of those across the nation to drop Ann Colter as you can see at Talking Points Memo. I and others in the community emailed the Herald's new editor, and to my surprise, he agreed to drop her. Could it be that the Sanford Herald is becoming more progressive? I doubt it. I think Coulter is just that damn bad.
The Herald, like most smaller papers, I imagine, has owners who lean right, but I have begun to see that if readers lean hard enough back, we can get results. It's good to have small victories.

This from one of Nathan Tabor's columnists at the Conservative voice: Jeremy Meister.
Is Ann Coulter good for Conservatism? Someone who doesn't act ashamed of their ideology? Someone who stands up for what they believe in even when faced with hostile peer pressure? Absolutely. We need more people like her.
Just the kind of guys Duncan Hunter wants as part of his dead-on-arrival presidential campaign.
Update: Edited to be a kinder, gentler rant.

On Purple Crayons, Or, Thank You, Ann Coulter
Submitted by fake consultant on Mon, 03/05/2007 - 5:43am.If you look in the 24 pack of Crayola crayons, here’s what you find:
The Red community:
Scarlet, Red, Red Violet, and Red Orange.
The Blue Community:
Indigo, Blue, Cerulean, and Blue Green
And in the middle-the Purples:
Violet, Blue Violet, and Violet Red.
Even the crayon box mirrors the electorate-both sides have their “base”, and both are fighting for the middle.
And so it is with the Republican Party, America’s voters, and that most delicate of feminine flowers, Ann Coulter.
Stand Up to this Garbage
Submitted by Internazionale on Sat, 03/03/2007 - 10:35am.I think it's great that Ann Coulter and the conservatives at this weekend's CPAC convention in Washington want to slur John Edwards with homophobic slurs and laugh about it. The HUGE irony here is that many at the convention are fretting over the slate of Republican presidential candidates lacking true Christian values.
I think it's great because it shows these people for what they really are----power-obsessed jerks who will summon up all measure of bile and hate just to win an election. A far cry from Jesus Christ's sermon on the mount, don't you think?
To Edwards's credit, his campaign has responded by using Coulter's slur to raise money. This morning on his website, they are trying to raise a little "Coulter Cash" to help end the culture of bigotry that folks like Coulter, Karl Rove and the men they serve----that's you, George W Bush---have created in this country.
