2008 Primary Election Analysis: NC-03

This is a cross-post from Bloviations and is the first in a series of posts examining 2008 Primary Elections in Onslow County.

Primary 2008 over and all that’s left is to clear the battlefields of the dead and wounded. For North Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District, that means sweeping away Democrat Marshall Adame and Republican Joe McLaughlin.

Craig Weber defeated Marshall Adame by nearly 30,000 votes (or 39% of votes cast).

NC-03: Weber tosses hat back into ring for NC-03's Democratic Nomination

In an email today, Craig Weber tossed his hat into the ring for the nomination to challenge Republican Congressman Walter B. Jones, Jr. ('cuz, really, who thinks Holy Joe McLaughlin is going to win that primary?) in 2008.

Says Weber in the email to many of Eastern North Carolina's Democratic politicos:

Weber Commercials

Craig Weber has commercials airing throughout the district. He's also got them online.

Check them out! (#3 and 4 are my favorites).

Mr. Weber was at a Candidates Forum in Jacksonville last night. I'm working on the write up and audio (gotta love digital recorders!). I'm 'out of pocket' for the weekend so I probably won't have the stuff done until late Monday or Tuesday.

Craig Weber - A True Representative of Eastern North Carolina

Craig Weber is challenging Congressman Walter B. Jones, Jr. for his 3rd Congressional District seat in North Carolina.

Craig Weber has a plan to build the 3rd District up, instead of allowing it to be torn down.

Craig wants to build the Marine Sciences program at Carteret Community College into one of the largest and most advanced programs on the east coast. As the school is located near the Atlantic Ocean and among unique marsh and wetlands, the school already is home to some of the best environmental and marine science minds in the United States.

Interview with Craig Weber, Candidate for NC's 3rd Congressional District

“Bullies are in control with total disregard for our civil rights. We have to re-take our "integrity" in this world, which has been abused and convoluted by Bush and his Administration and a Confused Congress, which Walter Jones, Jr. advances and helps sustain.

On August 31st, 2006, I met with Mr. Craig Weber to discuss his candidacy for NC's 3rd District for the U.S. Congress.

Please follow below the fold for the interview.

Contributions for Craig Weber

If you're inclined, you can make contributions to Craig Weber's campaign at his Act Blue page.

For your convenience, I've signed up as a 'fundraiser' and have an ActBlue box on my blog.

It looks like that.

I ask that you donate through the box on this blog, or through the fundraiser site I set up, so that I can track how much Craig gets through BrockNet.

Congressman Walter B. Jones, Jr. - Protecting the Wrong Americans : Horses

Cross-posted at the Brock Log.

On September 7th, 2006, the U.S. House of Representatives considered House Resolution 503, The Horse Protection Act.

According to the resolution's entry at the Library of Congress, the purpose of the Horse Protection Act is "to amend the Horse Protection Act to prohibit the shipping, transporting, moving, delivering, receiving, possessing, purchasing, selling, or donation of horses and other equines to be slaughtered for human consumption, and for other purposes."

NC-3: Weber Signs Everywhere

No one wants wing-nut Walter B Jones, Jr to lose more than me. Heck for a while I ran a blog just about Walter. That having been said, I haven't given his opponent Craig Weber much love - mostly because I haven't thought he had a snowballs chance in hell.

I still ain't sure Weber has a shot, but I will give him this much - the 3rd District (at least between Goldsboro and Atlantic Beach) is covered in Weber for Congress signs. Maybe it's time I showed him a little more love, and sent him some money.

And Helms begat Reagan...

Arguably, Ronald Reagan's Helms enabled win in the 1976 NC primary was all the encouragement he needed to try again in 1980, setting the stage for the Reagan Revolution and synergistic escapades like this one...

TrueMeckDem on Myers Park Pat

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
