After much grassroots lobbying from good government groups, the NC General Assembly granted permission for Chapel Hill to experiment with local public campaign financing. A successful pilot in Chapel Hill can help clean up other local elections, expand successful statewide public financing options and increase interest in voter-owned elections nationwide.
