Doug Clark: Politics Trumps Morality

One could write volumes about the sad state of modern journalism. The collapse of quality and integrity are nothing short of mind-boggling. The collusion of reporters with right wing sources. The gushy pandering of small town newspapers to their hometown favorites. The wholesale swallowing of manufactured opinions by by once great newspapers.

But even against those sorry standards, Doug Clark at the Greensboro News-Record reaches a new low today in a comment he makes about the immigration issue.

Politics trumps whatever your idea of morality is on this issue, and many other issues for that matter.

It's official. Patty May Have Met His Match

When a wingnut like Doug Clark at the Greensboro paper says Republican Patrick McHenry has a serious challenger, you should sit up and listen. And that's just what Clark says today about Daniel Johnson. Thanks to Ed Cone for dragging this one up.

Not much has been reported about Johnson's political positions, although the HDR quotes an area Democratic leader as saying he holds moderate-to-conservative views typical of the 10th District. The 10th has been solidly Republican for decades. Jim Broyhill, then Cass Ballenger, held the seat before McHenry.

Editorial Writer takes cheap shot at BlueNC today?

I'm still not sure I know who the person is who's running the Blust blog or what she plans to do with it.

"It doesn't tell me anything about the potential Republican leadership of this state, anymore than Bluenc fairly characterizes Democratic leaders." Doug Clark Editoral writer Greensboro N&R

TrueMeckDem on Myers Park Pat

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
