Elizabeth Edwards, Kay Hagan, Emily's List & MoveOn

North Carolina's own Elizabeth Edwards has teamed up with with MoveOn.Org and Emily’s List to promote electing more women to Congress.

In an email sent today, Elizabeth writes:

Health care is an issue that is really close to my heart. And I know it matters to a lot of Americans, particularly mothers. But time and again, Republicans have blocked progress on expanding health care—most recently the expansion of the children's health insurance program—and on so many other important issues.

That's why we need to elect more progressive women in Congress in 2008, to stand with President Obama on healthcare and other key issues.

Obama Kicks off General Election Campaign in North Carolina

Barack Obama kicked off his general election campaign in Raleigh, NC on Monday, an indication that North Carolina will be a targeted state in the fall. Obama delivered a major speech on the economy at the NC Fairgrounds, marking the beginning of a two-week tour through the state, focusing on Economic Policy.

During his speech, Obama went into full general election mode, launching a direct hit on McCain’s Economic policy, calling it a “full throated endorsement of Bush’s Policies.”

Elizabeth Edwards: "Reform Health Care Responsibly, Morally, and Aggressively."

As today marked the 30th anniversary of the “War on Cancer,” Elizabeth Edwards and Lance Armstrong appeared at a US Senate Committee Panel to push for a renewed fight against cancer.

Elizabeth Edwards, one of the nation’s most outspoken and effective advocates for universal healthcare coverage, takes this issue very personally. A survivor of breast cancer, Elizabeth told a panel led by Senator Ted Kennedy, “…we’ve chosen as a nation to turn our backs on some of us who have the disease. I urge you to reform health care responsibly, morally, and aggressively.”

Elizabeth Edwards on Labor, Unionization, Big Business and the future Edwards Administration

With the endorsement of labor groups soon to come for John Edwards, I thought it would be a good time to post up another interview - this time with Elizabeth Edwards as she came through Denver back in July. I have to tell you that this interview was not scheduled, I just happened to be where she was going to speak, at the AFL-CIO union hall, and as luck would have it, she was nice enough to agree to talk on camera. (it also important to note that thethe AFL-CIO has the highest rate in new membership in 2 generations. (thanks Miss Laura)

I have long been an Edwards supporter, but I was still quite pleased to find out just how personable and genuine Ms. Edwards was. Also, this was my second on-camera interview, and Ms. Edwards demeanor and professionalism made me feel at ease which helped me conduct the interview without being too nervous.

Campaign America Video and website back up

Although this really isn't a Fourth of July video, it does give the uplifting feeling of the Fourth. However, it is a video of John Edwards' message of America's moral authority to lead the world. It leaves us ready to campaign.

Everybody on TV is talking about the showdown between Elizabeth Edwards and Ann Coulter on MSNBC last night. I think Elizabeth did a great job while showing that you can have class and still participate in the political process. For years, I have been waiting for someone to tell Ann Coulter that what she does is not called for or journalistic. Hopefully, the message will get across this time.

TrueMeckDem on Myers Park Pat

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
